  • I’m very frustrated
I bring up "Bill and income reminders" and the Minimize/Maximize/Close boxes are off the screen to the right (even if I maximize before closing the "Bill and income reminders".
The problem is: Too often I forget to Maximise the "Bill and income reminders" window and when I have finished entering data and want to close it, I end up closing "QUICKEN" and have to bring iit back up.
How do you set it to open up in the “Maximized” state?

Subject: "Bill and income reminders" Minimize/Maximize/Close boxes are off the screen.

Sharanjeet Singh: Hi, my name is Sharanjeet Singh. Thank you for contacting Quicken, please allow me a moment to read your question.
Sharanjeet Singh: Hi Troy, how are you doing today?

Troy Neely: I'm fine, thank you. How are you?
Sharanjeet Singh: I'm fine too, thank you for asking.
Sharanjeet Singh: If I understand you correctly, you want to open 'Tools and Income reminders' window in maximized state. Right?
Troy Neely: Doing that will probably instruct me on how to open anything in the Maximized state.
Troy Neely: Scedualed Transactions are my issue.
Sharanjeet Singh: I'm sorry Troy, there is no such option for this is Quicken. It is designed in this manner only.
Troy Neely: ??? It is irritating and would like them to figure it out and notify me.
Sharanjeet Singh: It is designed to tell you that you are working under a window within Quicken program.
Troy Neely: Yes, but when I am working with other programs, the Minimize/Maximize/Close boxes are visable.
Sharanjeet Singh: Can you provide me with the screen shot for this window so that I can have a clear picture of it.
Sharanjeet Singh: For getting the screen shot please follow the steps below:

    1. Press Print Screen (PrtSc).
    2. Click the Windows Start button and select Programs (or All Programs) > Accessories > Paint.
    3. When Paint opens, select the Edit menu and select Paste.
    4. Select the File menu and select Save.
    5. Save the screenshot to your hard drive.

Once you saved that Screenshot file, click on the ATTACH File button on the chat window, browse that file and attach it.
    File attachment upload has started.
The file Quicken Bill and Income screen.doc (89.5KB) was received.
    Sharanjeet Singh: Thank you.
Troy Neely: I already had it in "WORD" If not okay, let me know.
Sharanjeet Singh: Please try to drag this 'Bills and income reminders' window onto the left.
Sharanjeet Singh: Did you get it?
Troy Neely: That is not a problem. If I remember to do this every time, but I don't. I can use the window as is, but when I'm done I click on the only visable X and close Quicke all together.
Troy Neely: Some programs remember where you like the file and after you close it and open it back up, it's like you want it... But not Quicken 2012. Did not have the problem with Quicken 2003. or 2010.

  • Intuit is very bad about the developers remembering (or being required) to record and restore the locations of windows. And it is not getting better over time (maybe just the opposite).

For instance the attachment window doesn't do it, neither does the new advanced budget window in Quicken 2012. And as for maximize, well other then the main window I don't think any window remembers that.

I might add that in the case of Quicken 2012 make sure you are not using the View -> Use Large Fonts. Or the "larger DPI setting in windows". In Windows 7 you find this setting by right clicking on the desktop and selecting:
Screen Resolution -> Make text and other items larger or smaller -> make sure it is set to Smaller - 100% (default). If you don't do this and your screen resolution isn't set high enough the dialogs will not fit and part of the window will be off screen.

I have this same issue. It is an AGGRAVATION. It seems like this would be a BASIC fix as most other programs (even free and shareware) remember window positions
