will not allow me to download transactions from my financial institutions. Keeps giving me this message "please wait while windows configures quicken 2016" then says unable to uninstall while open? Any ideas?

You say you are trying to download transactions but windows says there is a problem uninstalling? That does not make any sense. It appears that windows is trying to uninstall Quicken.

Can you verify your question?

You may want to try to install the mondo patch for 2016 as it sounds like your Quicken program is damaged.

Are you running on Windows 10? Did you recently install Windows 10 or the Anniversary edition? This process is known to damage the Quicken program.

If you have Windows 10, I suggest following this article using QCleanUI to reinstall Quicken.

If you do not have Windows 10, just install the mondo patch available here.

Seeing the same issue on Quicken 2015 R12 (24.1.12.12)
Windows 2007 SP1
Started today.
Issue happens when I download and try to import by executing the QFX file.
If I use the file menu to import the transactions the import works without issue.
Not the way I want update my transactions though as ever time I download from an  account (I have about 18) windows tries to reinstall Quicken.

When you download transactions and launch the update from the QFX file Quicken shuts down, tries to reinstall and fails on a shared resource which does not exist.

I have seen other articles about this which talk about reinstalling or installing a patch. Would be good to get official guidance on this as that doesn't seem to be working for Windows users today.

This is a known issue.  See:  https://getsatisfaction.com/quickencommunity/topics/new-5-19-17-import-qfx-reports-msi-error-1706-on...

I found a work-a-round by saving the .QFX file to my workstation and then importing it using File > File Import > Web Connect File ..

I tried earlier downloading the file to my desktop then double clicking on it with no success. Your "File > File Import > Web Connect File .." work a round works like a charm. Thanks Steve. I hope Intuit/Quicken fixes this issue ASAP.

Same problem. Started today Windows 10 Quicken 2015. Cannot download transactions from bank, tries to install Quicken 2015 but can't find .msi file. But the workaround that Steve has worked for me too.

Thanks for sharing that reinstallation did not help. I was going to try this, but remembered this being a difficult process.

Me two.  I'm running 2016 and this happened when importing a qfx file.  After awhile I get the message"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."  Then it asks if I want to use an alternate path to the installation package Quicken 2016.msi.  What's going on?
Happening to me to. Glad to see everyone else is struggling with it! I have been driving myself mad trying to figure it out!!

Just got off the phone with Quicken.  They are aware of the problem (I'll bet).
(Work-around)  Download the QFX file from the Banking Institution, and save it to your disk.  Then, open that file from the Quicken app.

Losing faith in Quicken.

Thanks for sharing this workaround.  Given the widespread problem, I do wish that Quicken folks would take the time to monitor and respond here instead of forcing you to call support.

Agreed.  Inconvenient workaround by adding a few steps.  But it's better than nothing.

Same problem for me starting today 5/19/17. I noticed when I started Windows 10 today it suffered a stop code and had to fix something and restart; no other information given as to what the problem was. I am sick to death of Windows 10 and its continual problems and now if this a Quicken issue, I am getting suspicious of the Quicken product as well.

The Quicken product has seriously gone downhill in the last few years. I wish there was a truly comparable competing product.

I downloaded the Quicken QFX file from  my bank, then did a file import-web connect file-Quicken(name of file) and the update worked fine. Fix this Quicken, soon!

The work-a-round provided by David Larson worked for me. Download the QFX file from the financial institution and import the file as a web-connect file.
This issue has been very disconcerting for me today.

Thank goodness I'm not alone.  Web-Connect work-around did the trick.  Last time I updated my investment accounts was 11 MAY.  That download successfully updated my investment accounts as usual.  I tried rerunning the 11 MAY download and got the same disastrous result as today's (19 MAY) download so it isn't something that changed with my financial institution.  Quicken Update log file shows last software update was on 08 MAR 2017 @ 16:50.  I'm running Quicken 2016 Deluxe Release R 12(25.1.12.2)

I agree with KB....I just want to update my balance. Been trying for 4 days to do it.My chase card goes it fine , but not my bank!! I am begining to hate quicken....after spending an hour last week on the phone with a woman who had to help me get on quicken. I was getting the same error message.."oops, that didn't work"
so, so, tired of this . Maybe some one should create a trustworthy financial program for those of us who don't really use all the bells and wistles

I had the same problem as described on my desktop when attempting to launch the QFX file.  I went to a separate computer where I had not attempted to launch a QFX file and found that if I attempted to open the quicken file by clicking on it I get the same "please wait while ..." message.  If I open the file by first opening the application then the file opens fine.  I suspect that there is an issue finding the quicken application or a piece of the application when attempting to launch the QFX just as there is an issue finding the application when clicking directly on the quicken file vs. through the application itself.  Hope this is fixed soon ...

This started happening to me right after the "Creator" Windows update was applied.  Pretty sure this is a Win 10 related issue!!  Again!!

This started happening for me yesterday with Quicken 2016.  I downloaded the Creator Windows update a couple of days before and Quicken continued to work after that.

No, not a Win10 Creator's update issue.  I am using Win 10 Anniversary Update (from last year) and I am having the same issue.  I think the folks at Quicken did something on their end preventing transactions to be downloaded into the application like it has functioned for more than a decade.  Hopefully the will have it sorted out soon.

This issue also began for me yesterday, 5/19/17. I have Quicken 2016 Home and Business [Release R 12 (25.1.12.2)], and I have Windows 10 without the Creators Update. I have never been able to download transactions directly from Quicken, so I had to manually update through the Fidelity Elan site. Why won't Quicken Support help all of us? Oh, I forgot! They never seem to feel that an issue could possibly be related to them. Instead, Quicken Support feels that all issues are due to the financial institution or our own Quicken software!

Although another thread states that Quicken has resolved this issue for some financial institutions, they have not done so for the Fidelity Elan card! Quicken feels that, all you have to do is perform a One Step Update, and all transactions will download. No, Quicken, I, like others, have never been able to use One Step Update for this financial institution. I have to manually download transactions from their credit card site. I haven't minded doing so, but when Quicken did something to interfere with that process, it became their issue - not the various financial institutions nor mine! Please figure out the problem and fix it, Quicken! Thank you!

I see that some people are saying that the download functionality is working for them as of yesterday. Those people do not mention from what financial institution they are downloading. Unfortunately, I still am not able to download from the ELan Financial Service credit card, and am still receiving the message: "Please wait while windows configures quicken 2016." Therefore, the functionality is still not working for all financial institutions. Please fix it, Quicken!

Thanks, Judy! I am glad that yours started working. Unfortunately, my Elan credit card is still not working, and it doesn't seem to matter to Quicken because they won't help those of us that still are encountering this problem.

Thanks again!

Same problem with me and Chase downloads.  Also using I have Quicken 2016 Home and Business [Release R 12 (25.1.12.2) and Windows 10 Ver. 1703 OS Build 15063.296.  Used to be able to download GFX and a double click on the QFX file would import it into QuickenProblem started a few days ago.

Quicken has been going down hill for some time.  Seems that the installed user base has become their beta testers. :-(
