QWin 2016: Deluxe - Why won't mortgage balance update from the bank? How do I change manually?

I have Quicken Deluxe 2016. I've never used the loan-tracking functions before, and I just recently decided to try out tracking my mortgage, and auto loan balances. Both are with banks that support downloading into Quicken. For some reason, even though both are set up to log into the bank web sites, the "loan balance" won't update. The mortgage loan balance is showing as the original mortgage amount. Quicken shows that it was updated on today's date, but it really wasn't. It doesn't download any transactions, either. Same for the auto loan. I've tried poking around in different menus, and options, and I cannot figure out how to fix these issues. Is this a common issue? Can anyone help me figure out how to fix, please?

Thank you.

Please don't ask me ... I don't know why it works for some banks and not for others.

If you want to regain full control over both the loan account register and the payment transactions please take a look at this:

Same issue with quicken deluxe 2016. Just got a Cenlar mortgage and it says it downloaded, but the mortgage balance says it is accurate from the day we started it and won't change. My last mortgage was with chase and this tracked perfectly.

I may have resolved my issue. I initially created the mortgage account by adding the asset account of the house first and then adding a linked mortgage. I deleted these and instead just opened a loan account then added the asset account. Not my balance is updated correctly. We will see if this updates next month after my payment posts.

Creating the mortgage (loan) account first, then added the asset account.  That seems to be the trick....

Thanks. I did the same thing and it worked.
