Create a financial what if scenario
I think it would be helpful if you could easily from within the same quicken file create a 'What-if' scenario where you can temporarily change scheduled payments and charges without permanently changing everything. i.e. your wife wants to quit her job, can you afford it and/or for how long?  it would be nice to be able to see what happens if you lose her income, and also see what else you would have to cut out of your spending to be able to 'stay in the black'.  I knwo i could just save as a different filename and do this but i think it would be a cool tool

Michael Radford you don't mention what version of Quicken you are using, but QWin has a feature called  the "Lifetime Planner" that does "what if" scenarios.  It may not get into some of the details you may want, but it does approximate projections, based on the information and criteria you input.

Quicken home business and rental property 2019
I will try it that way, but it seems like it would be faster to just save as and change things, than fill out all the plan assumptions.

Michael,
if you want to be able to do "What-if" on your data without disturbing your actual Quicken data file, why not create a copy of your active Quicken data file and work with it?

After you're done working with the "What-if-copy", you can delete the file.

Make sure you know which file you're working in at the moment ... you don't want to input actual transactions into the "What-if-copy" that should have gone into the actual data file. And you don't want to play "What-if" with the actual data file. I've managed to shoot myself in the foot while doing something similar, working with multiple data files ... :-(

Note: When asked to register the "What-if-copy" to your Quicken ID, please do so, but do NOT set the file up to be Synced to Mobile/Web.
