Every download from Discover credit card shows each transaction as reconciled when they are only cleared

Downloaded transactions from Discover Card all show as reconciled when they are not

Go to  the menu Tools > Account list, then hit the Edit Button next to the Discover Card account, Go to the "Online Services" tab . Check if you have the checkmark in the Reconcile Using Online Balance checkbox. Then Uncheck it. If there is no Check mark. Try to create a Test file and connect your Discover account to see if it is automatically reconciled in the test file. If in the test file is not "automatically " reconciled, Your original data file might be corrupted or damaged.

Reconcile Using Online Balance is not checked. I don't know how to create a test file, so unless someone else has the answer, I'll live with it. I now reconcile manually by comparing the beginning and ending balances in the register versus the Discover statement.

To create a test file, you would select File > New Quicken File...

I suggest toggling Reconcile Using Online Balance on and then off in an attempt to coerce Quicken into behaving properly.

I found the solution. Go to Tools/Reconcile and uncheck "Always use Online Balance to Reconcile". The transactions now post as cleared when I download, and I can reconcile when I get Discover's statement.  Problem solved.
