I have multiple Quicken Files, each containing different accounts. Some banking, some brokerage, some credit cards. In the Windows version of Quicken I can open any of the files and update the accounts online - All with the same Quicken Account ID. I am contemplating converting from QW to Q MAC 2017 (testing now). I see that each of the converted files required a Quicken ID to set up (I used the same and only one I have). Now when I update them, it tells me the ID is already associated with a different file. It let's me proceed with a warning that the other file will no longer update. When I return to the other file, the same behavior. It works, and I do not update all the files daily, but it is cumbersome and takes extra steps that the Windows multiple files do not need. Is there a workaround for this? Does Quicken expect me to have a different email (the username) for each file? I have about a dozen. Something illogical about this. (As it is the lack of the 2 line register is a problem for my many files). Would appreciate any insights.

Because of the way the Intuit Id is created where you have to give it as an email address, people sort of assume that is the "user Id". But the truth is that what it does when you create a new Intuit Id, is it takes and uses the email address provided for both the user Id and the email address.
The direct link is: https://accounts.intuit.com
If you log in there you will see both your user Id and email address. You can change either of them.
So one can change the user Id leaving the email address in place.
And now they are free to use that same email address for setting up another Intuit Id.
The actual email address can be the same on multiple Intuit Id profiles, only the user Id has to be unique.
