QMac: Missing transactions for Barclays credit card

Quicken for MAC latest release. Couple of days ago I noticed that my credit card account started to miss transactions. Basically only one transaction gets downloaded per day and all others are ignored. I tried many different things - disable / enable account, new quicken file, delete / add account - nothing helps. Called quicken support and after repeating again all the above steps they told me to see if problems clears in couple of days. Is anyone else having this issue?

Some additional things I tried:
Created completely new account on Quicken and downloaded transactions from bank using web connect. Still the same problem - missing transactions. So not related to file or Quicken Connect. It possible that issue is on the bank side but when I download from there transactions in excel format I see all of them. Any ideas on what else I should try?

If you are using Web Connect, then yes, you can be very certain it is Barclay's issue.

You can open that web connect file in any text editor and see if you have the transactions showing that should import into Quicken. If you see them there, look for a key FITID and see if that is the same ID being used for each transaction on the same day. It shouldn't be-each transax should have a unique ID as that is how Quicken knows to import/ignore transactions.

You are absolutely right. After checking the file I see that all transactions have the same <FITID>. I will contact the bank.

Well, good luck with your dealings with the bank as your mileage may vary. I don't know if Barclays handles their back end or if they farm it out as many banks do. Most are quick to blame Quicken so they can hang up.

I think you have already figured this out, but that Financial Institution Transaction ID (FITID) is a unique identifier for transactions. When one downloads, he or she usually gets a batch of transactions (say 90 days). If the ID is unique, the transaction is imported. If the program has already seen that ID, it ignores the data. So, it appears the Barclays data generator is regurgitating the same IDs for multiple transactions.

Good luck.

I am having the same issue and see that my downloaded file does have the same FITID for transactions on the same day. I submitted an email to the bank so I am hoping that this problem will be corrected.

Thanks for the info!

FYI... This is apparently not just Mac. I'm now on with Quicken (two hours so far...) and they just found & pointed me to this string (Thanks, John in NC, and George for posting).
My Quicken customer service person just said that Quicken will escalate this to Barclay since it is affecting multiple Quicken customers.

Not sure if I'm being naive, but it sounds like a good thing :)

Yup, having the same issue.  Has anyone mentioned when this might get resolved?  Definitely annoying to have to enter them all manually.

I had considered going into a text editor and changing the <FITID> value to add unique characters at the end of each entries' value in the qfd file (add "a", "b", ...) barclay generates. QFD is very simple text file. Easier than adding the whole entry manually from Quicken...

BUT I haven't tried it yet, so can't promise it will work. I am comfortable with editing this kind of file generally (but no experience with a Quicken file) so can't say how picky the normal processor of the qfd file in Quicken is.

No, they did not mention to me when... but did say they might update my case info. If it includes the "when" then I'll post it -- whether I believe it or not :)

Tried changing last character in FITID number and it failed.

Thanks for the info. I realized later that the qfd import might expect only numbers so my suggestion of adding "a" etc. might be a problem. Also since the last characters in Barclay's FITID are the date, maybe the change would have to be by replacing some first characters with numbers and maintaining the same overall length. I may be able to try this myself but not for a day or two.

I wrote 3 emails now to the bank. All 3 came back with education on how to use Quicken or advice to contact Quicken support. I think, unless Quicken gets involved, this will be ignored by the bank. Anyone knows how to get it escalated?

Thanks,
George

Quicken told me (see my post of 2 days ago above) that they are escalating  so that Quicken will act on our behalf to Barclay. Call Quicken support again now that they have acknowledged what's going on and they claim to be escalating - see if you get any more info on the alleged escalation. If I haven't had an update on my case from Quicken in a few hours (their time frame) I'll call and check, and post here any info I learn.  BTW the way, you can reference this string since it was Quicken support that led me to it.

This bubbled up in a Windows thread as well. An official announcement from Quicken went out yesterday that they are aware of the issue, and they have escalated this to Barclays to resolve.

Thanks. For now I'm using workaround  - just downloading the file and adding sequence numbers to FITID. Something like <FITID>0000400002017042501 ..........  <FITID>0000400002017042502 and so on.

Great!  Thanks for  trying and posting, I'll do the same
I just did this as well!  Thank you so much for posting this great idea.  Worked perfectly.  Hope it gets fixed soon!

All true, but see https://getsatisfaction.com/quickencommunity/topics/barclays-credit-card-transactions-will-not-downl...
for some cautions that could result later, depending on how Barclay fixes it, and how Quicken handles...
A modified ID may signal later (if Barclay sends the old "lost" ones again) that the new ones are different, so double entry. Solved by manually accepting when confronted with the "fixed" transactions.  Of course that assumes that the do send old transactions after they fix.
Good point.  I'm thinking when I download I will set the limit for the dates that I don't already have and hopefully this will limit double transactions.  Fingers crossed.  Hopefully it is fixed soon because this is a bit of a pain!

I am having the exact same issues. Only some of the transactions download for my BarclayCard, and I have tried every configuration; recreating the account, manual download and everything. I called BarclayCard customer support and they know about the problem but cannot predict a fix date. I SUGGEST THAT EVERYONE CALL BARCLAYCARD TECHNICAL SUPPORT AT  1-866-558-1107 and thereby raise the priority of this fix on their end. Thanks!

I called Barclay and had to request a manager.  The CS Rep was very stubborn and insisted that it was Quicken's issue.  I finally got a manager who had checked with IT and said they are working on it.  Keep the call going...

For anyone who isn't aware, the issue linked below seems to be where many of the latest user interactions with Barclay have been reported. Upper management seems to be very aware with a resolution "hoped for" by Friday. Many thanks to the active folks in that thread!

That would be great. I just finished entering most of my BarclayCard transactions from my first month into Quicken manually, which I am not prepared to do again. I have therefore started switching to my Capital One Visa, which has a comparable rewards program.

And Capital One has EXACTLY the same issues as Barclay's.

Wrong bank to be switching too.

Suggest you search on Capital One on this forum and see the myriads of problems downloading transactions from that financial institution.

Just saying...search on this forum and see the problems users have with Capital One.

The three "problem" banks/credit cards to download from at the moment are:

Barclay's
Capital One
Wells Fargo

Daily complaints about all three of those.

I'm glad yours is working.
