I am using Quicken 2017 Premier R4 and new transactions have not been downloading from my PNC Virtual Wallet accounts. I know there are new transactions, because when I log into PNC I see them. Nevertheless when I attempt to download the transactions through one step update, no new transactions have downloaded since 2/10, yet there are no error messages.Very frustrating...Thoughts?

Are you saying Quicken has worked in regard to your PNC Virtual Wallet accounts in the past??
I believe, Virtual Wallet in regard to Quicken is the issue. This issue was brought to light many, many months ago in this forum. If you want to, your only choice is to not use PNC Virtual Wallet which means changes you have to make in regard to your PNC account(s). PNC offers free Direct Connect so you might want to get away from Virtual Wallet and stick with PNC.

Hi @ Joel Kluender ,
Quicken does not know how to combine 2 types of Accounts into one, which is exactly what PNC Virtual Wallet is. It is checking and savings, together.
Echoing @ Rhinecliff , switch your connection from Express Web Connect to Direct Connect. You need to connect PNC Bank, because it is not something that you can do on your own.

According to the PNC Online specialist I spoke with on the phone, Virtual Wallet requires Express Web Connect, not Direct Connect. The fact that they so willingly took on my case and promised to call me back tells me that this is probably something that others are calling to complain about and that they know it is their problem. That is speculation on my part, but we will see what happens in the coming days. THANKS

Quicken had been working with my Virtual Wallet account. It didn't necessarily know savings vs. checkings, but treated all of those breakdowns in VW as separate accounts in Quicken. Worked fine for me until 2/10 as well, now no new transactions are showing up even though they are present. True that Direct Connect did not work, but the Express Web Connect had been working, for years, until 2/10. Now it doesn't download anything new, no errors, nothing.
At the very least I would love to know if it is a Quicken problem or a PNC problem. For what it's worth I tried Quickbooks and Mint, using those to connect and try to download transactions. Same result.

@ Sean Bowser ......... The problem you are experiencing is on
Quicken's end, plain and simple. Quicken, Inc. is not working to fix the
issue. Known issue for ages. Do know a person wanting to use Quicken,
should absolutely use Direct Connect versus other modes of
connectivity. Direct Connect for the most part, takes Quicken, Inc. /
Intuit servers out of the picture which is paramount. PNC Wallet is
lets call it, a cutsey offering at best. Forget using it! Do know that
Quicken with your PNC accounts set-up in Quicken with Direct Connect
will shine. Quicken and what if offers to you far out ways the cutesy
Virtual Wallet. A plus is PNC allows you to use Direct Connect for free
with any requirements. Chase is another that offers Direct Connect in
regard to personal accounts and again, no requirements. Sean, I
encourage you to go Direct Connect ....

I appreciate the feedback, thank you. I guess I was hesitant to switch mainly because it seemed to work so well for 2+ years and just started having issues. But maybe that's been the issue all along - intermittent at best.

Sean, Call PNC and get signed up with their Direct Connect. After this you may need to wait a few hours til you can use that PNC Direct Connect. Some say they could use immediately, some say it took a few hours. Anyway, after you get Direct Connect, do change over to Direct Connect. Do a Quicken manual backup just before the changeover process. After this set-up all your PNC accounts in Quicken with Direct Connect. During the process you will be asked to ADD or LINK accounts in Quicken. You want to LINK, again LINK.

Hi @ Rhinecliff ,
Unless something as changed, the way I started PNC-Direct Connect was calling up PNC Bank and they had to set it up on their end. They also had to Surface Mail a starting Pin Number, in which the User Changes, once they receive it in the mail.
That starting Pin Number is used again, if your forget the Pin Number you have created.

@thecreator ... You kick started my memory. YES, you are correct, PNC mails the pin# after contacting them as you state.

Hello everyone... I did contact PNC Bank about Direct Connect and they told me that I had to use Express Web Connect for Virtual Wallet. They said that Direct Connect does not work with Virtual Wallet. There is no way I am changing my type of banking accounts to accomodate their software glitches. By the day I am becoming less and less enamored with PNC...so many problems I have had with them in different ways. The best I can tell it is definitely a problem at PNC but who knows. Obviously Quicken and PNC are not "talking" to each other properly. I have a PNC person who is supposed to call me back within 48 hours...that was two days ago...so we will see if I ever hear from them. THANKS everyone. It is nice to know I am not the only one with this problem. It was working just fine until 2/10.

@joel Kluender.. The preferred connectivity in Quicken is Direct
Connect. Quicken plays very well with PNC accounts set-up with Direct
Connect. A plus is PNC does not charge for Direct Connect. As
mentioned in earlier posts here, PNC Virtual Wallet and Quicken is a no
go. Do know that Direct Connect takes Quicken, Inc./Intuit servers out
of the picture for the most part and this in itself is a very very
positive thing. I encourage you to forget the cutseyVirtual Wallet.
Contact PNC and get Direct Connect turned on in regard to your PNC
accounts. After contacting PNC, set-up all your PNC accounts in Quicken with Direct Connect. Waste no time waiting for a fix that gets
Quicken working with PNC Virtual Wallet.... it's not going to happen.

I have the same issue using Mint. Within my PNC account, I have 3 virtual wallets - One for my wife and me and two for my children. On 2/10/17, Mint stopped downloading transactions for my virtual wallet, however, the other two continue to work fine. I have been using Mint with PNC Virtual Wallet for years without issues. On February 10, something changed. I have chatted with Mint tech support and they said they are aware of the issue. No ETA on the solve. I have to believe it is something PNC did on the backend that caused the issue.

First off you do realize that Intuit owns Mint...and Intuit does NOT own Quicken for over a year.
Second, you also must realize that downloading transactions to Mint and Quicken are two distinct processes. Even when Intuit owned both, I could download transactions from more financial institutions in Mint than I ever could in Quicken.
I can even download some wacky annuity contracts in Mint. I could never do that in Quicken.
So, you're kind of comparing apples to oranges.
That being said, PNC Virtual Wallet downloads are a mess.

Thanks for the reply! I did not know all that. Yes, somewhat apples to oranges. That said, I have the same exact problem that Quicken users have: On 2/10, my transactions stopped downloading from PNC Virtual Wallet. It is good to know that Mint and Quicken are owned and managed by different companies. This points to the issue being with PNC Bank. I used to use Quicken years ago and I was so frustrated with it's inconsistency in downloading transactions. When my wife first started using Mint and I saw it was owned by Intuit, I told her not waste her time since I expected it to pefrorm as poorly as Quicken. Mint has been awesome...up to this point...

Problem Resolved! My initial problem was transactions stopped downloading to Mint on 2/10/17. I submitted a request to Mint and waited for weeks with no response. I contacted PNC and after some time, they let me know they didn't support Mint. Based on the comments from folks above regarding Quicken, I purchased a Basic Quicken program download. I set up my accounts with PNC and just like Mint, they did not work (only PNC Virtual Wallet Accounts would not download - basic checking and savings did work). So I went back to PNC Branch office and told them they need to fix this or I will move my accounts. Their tech support had me send Quicken log files which I did. A day later Mint and Quicken are back working (they both started working at the same time). Not sure what PNC did, but it's all good now!

Can I upload my transaction history from another personal finance program, such as Quicken?
No, unfortunately this cannot be done at this time.
