Quicken 2016 R11 Downloaded Transactions Issue

Quicken 2016 Home and Business R11.  I upgraded Quicken to R11 yesterday (02/23/2017) after I finished using Quicken for the day.  Today, I downloaded transactions and noticed the tabs at the bottom of my linked checking account (linked to an investment account) are missing (Downloaded Transactions and Bill and Income Reminders).  I'm unable to review and accept the new transactions.  This worked fine under R10, but seems to be an issue in R11.  Attached are some screen shots. (Shot1 - Flagged Account needing transaction review.  Shot2 - Online Center display of transactions that need to be reviewed.  Shot3 - bottom of linked checking account where the tabs used to be displayed, but are now missing.)

A regular uninstall should be all that is needed, but do note my warning above if you are using the Online Bills presentment features.  (R10 uses old service provider, R11 uses new, conversion going forward is supported, but not going backwards)

Having the same problem as Phil with my Merrill Lynch linked accounts.  Went back to R10 a few days ago and all was fine until Quicken decided to update itself automatically an hour ago.

If you set Windows User Access Controls (UAC) in the control panel so that Windows asks before installing programs, you can block the update.  Of course that might be quite annoying since they will continue to want to do the update pretty much every time you start Quicken.

I was having the same problem with my Fidelity linked accounts. Followed the instructions above and loaded my R11 file. Seems to be working OK. I had a little trouble on the first startup with the program closing without opening the data file, so I went to the top menu and opened it from there. As soon as I logged in to my Intuit account, all seemed ok. Thanks for the help. Auto update was not a good fix.

I gave up.  Do not want to upgrade to 2017 because nothing new there is what I need.
I now just have transactions set to automatic update.  Not what I want but better that the bug that was introduced.  Still looking for a real fix,

I've debated rolling back to R10, but will probably stick with automatic update for now.  I've enrolled to be a beta tester, because I would like to help fix this problem.

Hello all,

Thank you for posting the issue with the downloaded transaction tab not being displayed for linked accounts. The Quicken team is aware of the issue and are working on a solution which should be implemented in a upcoming patch (the issue affects Q2016 R11 and 2017R4).

Until this is corrected, I am allowing automatic entry for my downloaded brokerage transactions.  This is working OK in the cash account, but for each time I download, Quicken is adding a zero share placeholder for each holding in the brokerage account.  So, if I download 4 days, I have 4 zero share placeholder for EACH investment and I can't find an easy way to delete them.  Any suggestions for how to avoid the placeholders and/or easily delete them?

I spent hours with Quicken support and the bank.  Quicken support is apparently NOT aware that it is their software problem even tho I kept suggesting that was the problem.  At one point the tech I was on line chatting with simply sent me a link to a support page "Downloaded transactions not showing up" that showed the problem solved and disconnected!  Any idea how long before the patch is released?

Hi John. Windows Quicken 2017 R4 (Home and Business) works just like QW2016 R10. I bought QW2017 back in December 2016, but kept it in the box until R4 was released. I don't like being on the "bleeding edge" of technology because I have a lot of time invested in building my Quicken transaction file. I originally was using QW2016H&B R11 then reloaded R10 due to the linked checking issue but decided to move on to QW2017H&B R4. I'm glad I did. I really like the feel of the screen layout 2017 offers. Plus, linked checking accounts work. Hope this helps. Phil

Having same problem, Q2016 Deluxe R11, with linked Fidelity Accounts.  And I can verify the work around (uninstall Q2016, network off, install Q2016, network on, start Q, install R10 mondo patch) worked perfectly for me.  I am back to where I was, with the bonus of not having to log into my Intuit account every other time I start up Quicken.

Thanks everyone!

That's great Tim.

However, please be aware that Quicken has announced that as of April 1, 2017 ALL Quicken 2016 users must be on R11 and all Quicken 2017 users must be on R4.  Otherwise Quicken will stop working.

So, enjoy your fix for now.  In 6 days, you'll be back in the same mess.

Quicken user since 1994 ... not real pleased with the combination of "call for support" (buy new product, even though it doesn't work), and "must update/upgrade" policies. ... Caught this bug with the R11 update ... glad that some Quicken folks are tracking this and know about the issue, but ...

Quicken Inc is transitioning from the old Intuit servers to their own.

I suspect why everyone with Q2016 will need to be on R11 and everyone with Q2017 will have to be on R4.

It is also the transitioning of using the Quicken/Intuit ID and password to check for the subscription validity of your software in the next version of Quicken.

Been using Quicken since 4.0 for DOS. The arrogance of forcing folks to upgrade to a broken release, not to mention the timing of this 'server change' two weeks before taxes are due in the US when people use their financial software heavily demonstrates a complete disrespect for customers.

One might speculate, ironically, that Quicken might have turned out better if Microsoft had succeeded in acquiring Intuit in 1994.

Presumably you meant R10 may not be able to connect.
So far, I'm having no problems with R10 and hope to wait for R12 or whatever.  I even had to undo one auto-update, but now I'm checking to see if it downloaded the update files before I open the program.  Also leaving Qkn open 24x7 keeps it from triggering auto update it seems.
Meanwhile, I"m also evaluating personalcapital.com as an alternative. It has some major advantages with portfolio management, but has to learn Categories for most transactions, which is a tedious process.

Quicken do NOT constantly update my Quicken to R11 I use for business until you fixed this issue. I have to constantly uninstall it and reinstall an old version. When you run an business you can not just download transactions automatically (as a temp fix)  as suggested without putting in the correct tax categories what I do by accepting transactions. I did not even know I had a lower account balance because of this bug. How long does it take to a) fix this issue or b) do a temporary patch to stay on R10!

Did you all get the email about the "premium" phone support??  You get unlimited priority access for one year for just $49.99!  What a crock!  I have been using this product since the days of dial up and now I am ready to switch.  I can not believe the lack of support with this problem and now they want us to pay for it.  Yeah, I think not!  Someone mentioned trying out personal capital, any reviews of that yet?  Any other viable option other than quicken?  I am so done!

I am a Personal Capital user (and paying client). It's very nice, but there's no sense of saving a history of your account like you have in Quicken. You just view the last month of activity. If that's enough for you, then it's great. And it's a lot more than just that, since it can show you your assets by class, etc.

BTW if anyone wants to try their paid management service, i can send a link to get you 3 months of waived service charges (which are up to 1% of invested assets). Disclaimer: I also get 3 months free.

I have the free account and have used it to go back much further than just one month on the transactions. I'm not sure yet whether it learns categories as well as Quicken did, but the investing features offset it to some degree.

I too started seeing this problem with the installation of Q2016R11. At the beginning of March 2017 Quicken support gave me their "fix" (which was turning on automatic entry of downloaded transaction. I at least got my transactions, but I didn't know if it really solved the issue. Now I see the same problem is still there, and Quicken support team is basically clueless and saying "deal with it." I can't automatically accept transactions and then delete them later in the linked investment account, that is so stupid. I was going to revert back to R10 and turn off the auto update, but I can't find where to do that.

Tom - I don't think you can.  You have to disconnect your ethernet cord or turn off your wi-fi temporarily while the program boots up.  Sucks I know, but I haven't found any other way and Intuit does not appear to be in any hurry to fix the problem!

I have been running Q16DR10 for a few weeks after encountering the original "linked accounts" problem.  I did the uninstall/install/R10M procedure and have been happy.

A few days ago, I allowed the R11M patch to be applied, when I noticed it was updated and slightly larger than the previous R11M patch.

Although I didn't do extensive testing, it didn't fix the "linked accounts" problem.  But it did want to update me to Q2017.

I am happy, back with the Q16DR10, until they fix "linked accounts".

I haven't seen anything about R12.  Perhaps I need to do R11M first??

I am getting good at uninstalling/installing and applying R10M.  It only takes me 3 minutes!

I just downloaded the new Q16R11Mondo patch.  It has yesterdays date on it, and is larger than the previous two versions that I have.

Not sure what to make of this odd versioning scheme.  Why would they have three variations of a file named exactly the same?  I write software for a living, we use build numbers, release numbers, and versions.  We never provide different software packages with the exact same version/release.

Doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.

I think I will wait for R12.

I was having this issue until today.

I downloaded the April 19 Mondo patch today, installed it, and then went into Quicken to see if it worked and Quicken told me I had an update available to download.  So I clicked that link and updated and the problem is gone. I did an update on my accounts, a couple had cash transactions in the linked cash accounts, and they showed up and let me accept them.

I am not sure if the Mondo patch caused the update available message, if they were independent, and whether they were really the same update coming in two different routes (I think that last theory is the most likely).

Also when I click on help and about it says I am on Quicken Home & Business 2016 Release R12 (25.1.12.2)

I think Todd is saying R12 is an update patch for R11. Its probably not indicated as R12, just an "update". Close Quicken, and open again, and see if it offers to update you.

I think I will try this later today, now that 2 people have said it works.

R12 is just a patch for R11. Its not an all inclusive "Mondo" patch. It probably needs to be applied on top of R11.

Since others reported success, I upgraded to R12.  I'm not certain whether the downloaded transactions will work in linked accounts for me yet, since I haven't seen a new one come through yet.  However, the "Downloaded Transactions" tab at the bottom of the register has returned, which provides some hope.

That said, it appears this update has regressed the bill reminder functionality, which seems related.  From what I could tell, in R11, the downloaded transactions tab was still present, but it was covered by the Bill Reminders tab and wasn't clickable.  It almost seems like Quicken "fixed" this by deleting the Bill Reminders tab completely, re-exposing the "Downloaded Transactions" tab.  That would still be welcome news for me, since that is more important, but it seems to trade one problem for (yet) another.

So you had to write two long paragraphs to say "I don't know if it's fixed for me even though others have said that it is and I see the downloaded transactions tab again"? Really?

I think you missed the important point in the second paragraph when summarizing my remarks.  In a nutshell, R12 appears to have broken Bill Reminders in the linked accounts when fixing the downloaded transactions tab.
