Your question does not make sense. Of course it will be easy to open a QW2017 file with QW2017.

My guess is you have a much older version's file you want to convert to QW2017 format.

Please restate your question.

Nor does it disclose if the OP is running a 20-year old Q product.  Or referring to QW2006 or QW2016.

George just needs to provide a WHOLE LOT more info before we can know enough to assist.

Not anymore.  This article (click here) describes the process to convert older versions of Quicken to newer versions.

Up until a few years ago, those instructions included versions as old as Quicken 6, but the instructions and the pre-2004 intermediate versions needed were removed.

So, unless you can find those older versions elsewhere, you are probably out of luck.  I'm guessing that Quicken 6 is a 16 bit program that won't even run on Win 10, another hurdle for the older versions in today's modern OSs.

I'd say you waited too long.
