Starting lifetime planner crashes Quicken H&B 2015

Just this morning lifetime planner started crashing PC H&B 2015.  I use it several times a week and have never had this issue.  I restored three different backups where I am sure it worked and have the same issue.  I have reinstalled Quicken.  I have run validate and repair.  No change. If Quicken has been shutdown while on the lifetime planner screen as it is is in some of my backups, Quicken crashes when I click on the planning tab.  If Quicken was shutdown on one of the other planning screens, clicking on planning works.  But then when I click on Lifetime Planner it crashes.

Not sure what to do next.

FILE > FILE OPERATIONS >  COPY.

Then with that copy FILE > FILE OPERATIONS > VALIDATE AND REPAIR your data file.

See if the Lifetime Planner works with that file.  If so, use that as your active data file.

Let us know if that helps.

I have the same problem.  I backed up the current file and ran it on an older PC that does not have the R12 release and the file works just fine on Lifetime planner.  It appears something has been updated on this release recently without anyone telling us, at least thats my guess.  At the same time I noticed I got a pop up requesting I purchase Quicken 2017.

Hi @ Greg Lampe ,

You stated that you have reinstall Quicken with no changes. I submit, if you use Programs and Features to uninstall Quicken it won't work, when you do reinstall.

See this Article:  https://getsatisfaction.com/quickencommunity/topics/how-to-download-and-how-to-install-from-download...

Right before you are ready to reinstall Quicken, download CCleaner Free and install it. Run the Cleaner portion first and then run the Registry portion twice for 0 Errors.

Now reinstall Quicken. Cancel Updates. (Takes too long during the installation process.) Do not Open Quicken.

Now install the Mondo Patch for Quicken 2015.

I never used the Lifetime Planner Tool in Quicken. Do you need all the other Registers, you normally have in Quicken for the Life Planner to work or can you simply use the Life Planner with a simple Cash Account Register in it?

Also start doing Manual Backups daily, that is, after major changes of the Quicken Data File.

I tried that and it did not fix the issue.  I'm half way through running diagnostics on the laptop just to make sure my system is ok.  No issues so far.

Hi @ Greg Lampe ,

Since it appears that everyone using Life Planner is crashing. This might because of an issue online?

Same problem here.  Started today.  I last used it successfully on 5/15/17.

I am also experiencing the same problem with Lifetime Planner - have used QClean to uninstall and then reinstalled (with updates).  Have of course validated the file, but the problem persists.  Worked fine yesterday.

Hi @ Richard Faber ,

I already have, and they can duplicate the problem in house, too. Meaning up at Quicken and I don't know how long it will take.

Hi @ gmalis1,

That was in the Lounge. Posters, who aren't Super Users or Moderators, don't have access.

Same problem on Quicken Premier 2015 R 12. Just started happening today. Validate shows no errors. Rebooting the computer makes no difference. Tried a backup, same result.

I'm a big fan of the Lifetime Planner. I hope this gets fixed.

Same problem on Quicken Deluxe 2016 R 12 (25.1.12.2).  Started happening this morning 2017-05-19.

Super validate makes no difference.

Uninstalling, running QCleanUI, and re-installing makes no difference.

Creating a new QDF file makes no difference other than an error message (something to the effect "...can not uninstall due to open files in Quicken...") comes on the screen...Quicken still blows up.

It's a Quicken server problem.

Stop trying to do anything else.  For some reason, the Quicken Lifetime Planner and the Tax Planner have some interface with a server that Quicken Inc is having problems with.

This has been reported and verified as a legitimate problem...and Quicken is working on it.

No ETA for when it will be fixed.

I'm having the same problem with Lifetime Planner crashing the Quicken app.  Just noticed it today.  I'm running Quicken Premier 2016 with the latest updates.  (Windows 10 Pro)

Fixed?

I did a test this morning (8AM MDT) and the problem was still occurring.

Then, I ran "Check for updates" in Windows 10 (at 10:10AM MDT) and it downloaded/installed a Windows Defender update (KB2267602 (Definition 1.243.862.0))

After installing the update, the Quicken problem no longer occurs.

Hopefully that clears up all the recent MSI related issues.

Mine is working now, too.  Interestingly, I've had no Windows updates since May 18th.  I had Quicken check for updates... nothing there.  So I'm not sure what fixed the problem... but the good news it's fixed.

Mine is working in the sense that it does not crash Quicken, but the planner and all assumptions are gone. It just shows a blank screen. This is Quicken Deluxe 2015. I have checked and I am at the latest update and have run the Validate and Repair routine.

Any ideas, or do I have to re-enter all my data?

Try restoring a recent backup?

Other than that, all I can think of is re-entering your data.  Not fun.
