For starters please tell us more about this.
What kind of "upgrade" are you talking about? New Quicken software installed? Software update to install patches (bug fixes)? Transaction download from the bank?

Thanks for asking.  I upgraded from Quicken Premier 2016 to 2017. I believe I bought it in Dec. 2016 towards the end of the month.  I installed it and my wife would enter our checks. When I would go on and they would then ask for an upgrade, I would accept it. I had not reconciled all checks from 2016 starting in what I thought was August because I could not find all my bank statements. What made me frustrated was that it said my previous balance was $1000.00 even.  I've never had such an even amount which made me wonder what was hacked or missing.  I use Norton 360 and try to keep it up to date as well. I did find after a hour or so how to change the beginning balance to what the bank said but I have not checked if any checks prior to this are missing. I am wondering this because I don't know why Quicken would change my balance to $1000.00.

Sloppy "bookkeeping" to say the least.  Or just lazy, I'm guessing.

You would like us to cryptically tell you what is wrong, when:

1 You're not sure about your starting balance.

2 You haven't reconciled you account since August (8 months ago).

Since Quicken keeps your data file locally on your PC and not in the cloud, you're data hasn't been hacked.  And it doesn't matter if your antivirus is up to date or not...that has no bearing on your situation.

My suggestion to you is find your bank statements, either having the bank re-send you them for all the previous months or find them online at your bank's website.

Make sure that you have entered EVERY transaction correctly.

Reconcile to each statement.

Then post back after you've done your homework and ask us if your upgrade changed your balance.

I'm doubting it did.

I don't understand why I should ask you if your upgrade changed my balance.  It did change it. At least I could find how Quicken tells us how to change it back. I didn't do the changing.  The upgrade did the changing. It is frustrating when you are busy wanting to get your taxes ready.

Your contacting a users forum...Quicken users trying to help other users.

Check to see if your starting balance changed.

Check to see if you have your register filtered in some manner.

Check to see if your register is sorted by date instead of some other parameter.

I'd start with that first.
