I’m hangry

Scoregeek : Loose my history and a lack of reactivity.

OK so I loose my whole history because of your last update. I unistalled and reinstalled the Scoregeek app on my Ipad. It's a pitty to see how you don't test your app seriously. What am I supposed to do now ? If I still use your app I take the risk to see my history destroyed again on your next update or do your plan to hire some professionnals ?

  • Hi Labelle,

I'm sorry that this happened over the Thanksgiving holiday when no one was available to respond immediately.

The app has free cloud backup specifically to avoid this type of problem. It's accessible from Settings > Cloud.

If you were already using the cloud I recommend you delete the app, reinstall it, and then sign into your cloud account to sync your data back to your device. Then let me know if that fixes it.

The update was tested very thoroughly and does not perform any modifications to your existing history. The only way the entire history would have been deleted is if you deleted the app itself at some point.

If you didn't delete the app, then most likely there is some bug causing the app to not load the history properly. If we fix that bug your history will show up.

I assume you weren't using the cloud so the first thing I want you to try is to sync any remaining data on your device to the cloud. You may or may not be able to do that, depending on what's causing the bug on your device, but try this:

-Completely close the app by swiping up with 4 fingers
-Swipe the app thumbnail upward off the screen with one finger to shut it down

Create a cloud account if you don't have one, like this:
    -Open the app
-Go straight to Settings > Cloud
    -Click Register
    -Create an account
-Go back to the app and sign into the cloud
-Go in and out of the Cloud Settings area a few times until you no longer see "Uploading Data" notifications

Next, use the free web version of the app to test that your data was uploaded:
    -Visit http://www.rebrandsoftware.com/ScoreG...
    -Click Settings > Cloud
    -Sign into your cloud account
-Go in and out of the Cloud Settings area a few times until you no longer see "Downloading Cloud Data" notifications

If you can see all of your data on the web app then it's safe to delete the app from your device entirely, reinstall, and restore the data from the cloud.

If you can't see your data online then please email me at mike@rebrandsoftware.com. Give me your cloud username and password. I will see exactly what's stored in the cloud and might be able to identify the bug if it's related to corrupt data.

    -Mike

  • Two more things:

I deleted your other post because it was a duplicate but I saw there you mentioned that you were posting games to board game geek.

You can manually import them into the app if all else is lost.

Also, I am working on a way to pull data from BoardGameGeek directly into the app. I'm not sure when it will be ready but if you wipe the whole app and keep scoring games that are posted to BGG it should be possible at some point to import them.
