Airfoil can't connect to linux Airfoil Speakers

  • Problem
  • Updated 6 years ago
The new linux release is recognized, but will not connect, both on Ubuntu and FC9, using the .deb and .rpm installs respectively. Airfoil just sits there forever saying "connecting". There is no way to tell it to stop. Exiting Airfoil causes the following error when it is trying to connect to the linux Airfoil Speakers app:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Hi Bill,

Can you send me a debug log of this problem? Please send both a Airfoil Speakers (Linux) debug log, which you can generate by starting AFS/L on the command line with the --debug 2 option, as well as an Airfoil for Windows debug log, which you can create by holding shift when starting Airfoil.

Please use this form: http://rogueamoeba.com/support/suppor...

To send the debug log, and select Airfoil for Windows as the product.

Cheers

David

Hey David,

Turns out this is an operator issue - the problem was a misconfigured firewall. I shut the firewall down completely while testing and Airfoil works just fine.

"Ran right out and bought a license" as soon as I got it working.

Sorry to bother you.

Take care,
Bill

I had a different problem. With firewall turned off, I get the error:

Could not get MAC address. Randomizing: FB6AD6

Same problem for me, but there is no additional firewall involved between Airfoil (Windows) and Airfoil Speakers Linux. Had to downgrade to version 1.0 again.

Too bad, as the error message posted by Perspectoff seems to indicate, that David read at least one of my two former questions after all (even if he didn't reply to it ;-).
