I’m confused.

How to revoke granted permissions

How do I revoke permissions granted to RSS Graffiti? I have accidentally given the app permissions to access My Wall which I don't need but I can't find out how to revoke those permissions.

  • Hi,

On how to use Facebook it is better to have a look at the Facebook help pages. Revoking permissions granted to RSS Graffiti works in the exact same way as for any other Facebook application and is handled by Facebook itself instead of the applications themselves.

To point you to the right direction though, you need to go to the "application settings" page and edit the permissions granted to RSS Graffiti. For your profile this page is under the Settings menu on the menubar. You revoke a permission by un-checking the corresponding permission check-box. This is how you manage permissions for applications you added to your profile. For applications you added to a Facebook Fan Page you need to go the "edit page" page and edit the permissions of the application in almost the same way. You will find this options in the little pop-up menu that appears when you click on the pencil icon right next to the application name.

Be sure to read the Facebook manual though because although I know how to do this myself, I'm not the right person to advise you on how to use Facebook.

Even if you don't revoke the permission from RSS Graffiti, it is not going to try to write on your wall unless you explicitly add a feed for publishing on your wall.

It is important to know the distinction between editing permissions for Fan Pages and editing permissions for your Facebook Profile.

Now that you mention this issue though, it might be a good Idea to allow the users to revoke permissions from inside the RSS Graffiti. As I'm writing this I'm not sure if there is a way in the Facebook API that allows us to implement such feature, but if there is, it would be fairly easy to add it.

Let me know if you managed to find your way through this.

Hi, This worked as far as I can tell. I hadn't made the distinction between editing page settings and profile settings. I guess I was 'naturally' looking for the solution to be somewhere inside Graffiti. I had actually gone to the app settings but was worried that revoking those would also revoke the settings for the pages too

Thanks for the distinction...it all makes sense now.
Great app, thanks for all your efforts.
    Regards
