Reduce feed item tooltip delay

allow control of tooltip delay 0ms would be good :) (default is too long to wait hovering mouse over an updated feed), and a make tooltips follow mouse while over current link

  • Hi, I assume you're talking about the feed item tooltips here. Perhaps when mousing between feed items the tooltip delay should be zero if it's already showing. There would need to be an initial delay to prevent accidentally triggering the tooltip.

yeah the initial delay as the same it is already (though personally i'd still lower it, just cause if the mouse goes over the feed item list but has no intention of staying well the tooltips just disappear anyway), definitely 0ms once the first tooltips shows, really niggling being slowed down by waiting for the tooltip to show over each feed item (sometimes just feel like [mmb] clicking on all items that sound interesting and loading them up in new background tabs to go through instead of reading the tooltips for each item... the idea of just sliding mouse over the items and have more instant tooltip feedback on all the all the different feed items.. would be great in itself, have tooltips follow the mouse would just be an added bonus. I had asked about it before for sage I think, but the response was that tooltip delay was hardcoded in windows, and firefox had no current way tapping into and overriding/controlling that, but consider you can completely stylizing the firefox tooltips with css, maybe mozilla have finally changed it, really should be about:config setting or individual settings extension develoers can use etc.

  • We'll look into optimizing the tooltip behavior when mousing between feed items in the sidebar.
