I’m frustrated

Song plays for a few seconds then itunes changes song...

I just downloaded my music from my ipod 30g video to my itunes 7.6.1 onto my brand new (3 day old) macbook. Nearly half of the albums play around 12 seconds of each song then move on to the next song. Some of the songs also skip. I used to have a PC and switched to a Mac when PC died. What's the deal? Anyone else encounter this issue? Anyone know how to fix it? I am using the newest version of podworks and have the full version.

I kind of have this problem too, except that my songs end a few seconds earlier. I'm trying Ella's solution now...

  • Have the same problem, and I did no importing or anything. I just bought the albums, and started playing them seconds after they were downloaded. I noticed the songs stopping before they ended, and started messing with them. I was quite miffed that my songs weren't all there. I did the re-download for free thing that Ella suggested and it seems to be working. I hope Apple fixes this problem, it's a pain.
I had six out of an album of 14 songs do this to me. :(
Who knows how many others it's done it to that I didn't start listening to and caught it right away.

  • I downloaded a song from mp3 skull. The song is 4.10 minutes long, yet when I open it with itunes to put it into my itunes library, it only plays one minute of it. I do not have this problem when I play the song with my default player VLC. Could anyone explain why I'm having this problem now, as I have done this process with over 90% of my itunes music library and never had any problems with this in the past. Could it be an upgrade in itunes that is doing this because the song is not downloaded from the itunes store? Thanks.

  • I ran into this same problem, and upgrading to newer versions of iTunes didn't help, nor did upgrading the Windows OS or buying a new computer. I had largely given up on iTunes after that. But, using a combination of suggestions from above, I was able to fix what appears to be a glitch regarding the time code in the songs, or simply put, the files were corrupted by Win Vista 64 bit. This solution works with my Acer 7551G, Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, and iTunes 11.0.4.4 ...

Individually delete the songs that are not playing correctly. Be sure to send the file itself to the recycle bin (might as well, nothing else can play it either, not even in Linux - I tried).

Go to the iTunes Store, and click on "Purchased."

Near the upper right of the page, click "Not on this computer."

If only one song, click on the little cloud symbol to the right, if more than one song, click on "Download all" one the lower right below the list.

This will also fix "sync" problems between your PC/Mac and iPod, new items will automatically be "checked." Just uncheck items you do not want synced.

Now I have my songs back, which will make running to the corner market a mile away in my wheelchair much more pleasant! :)
