I would like to suggest that you add Interactive Brokers (Australia): https://www.interactivebrokers.com.au...

Hi All,
I'm pleased to announce the introduction of our Interactive Brokers integration.
This is very much in a beta phase.
For those of you who are interested in trying the feature out you can follow these steps to get started:
1. Ensure that you have the Enable Beta Features flag set at the bottom of my details:
https://portfolio.sharesight.com/user...
2. Send an email to:
reportingintegration@interactivebroke..., include your IB account #, and request the ShareSight feed.
3. You should receive back from Interactive Brokers a user name and password specific to this integration only.
4. Access the new Interactive Brokers UI here:
5. Then enter the credentials you have been given here:
I'd suggest setting notifications to 'On', at least to start with.
Once per day Interactive Brokers will send a file through to us that includes your days trading. We will upload these approx 9:15 pm AEST
Given the very limited access to real data we've had during development, we are expecting errors to occur once production accounts are hooked into the integration.
If you are happy to share any errors you receive on this topic so that others are aware of any issues that would be appreciated.
You can also message support@sharesight.com with specific details of any issues as they occur. We will look to tackle any issues as soon as possible.

3Hi Robert,
Yes we do have an update.
We have finally started development on this integration.
When we are a little further along in our development we will ask on this forum topic for people interested in testing out a beta release.
I'll post an update when we are at this stage. -

4Hi All,
I'm well overdue to provide an update on our investigation into an IB integration.
In large part because of the feedback and suggestions provided on this topic and directly via our support address we have settled on an IB solution.
We eventually investigated around seven different approaches, but all had draw backs in one form or another.
The solution we will implement requires no direct customer support by us, nor does it require configuration on your part.
If you are interested in having your ongoing IB trade history automatically synced with Sharesight you would need to do the following:
1. Send an email to a dedicated IB address (which I will provide when the feature is ready), include your account # and request the 'ShareSight feed'.
2. Within 2-3 working days IB will provide you with dedicated user and password credentials specific to this integration.
3. You will need to enter those credentials into a form we will develop in Sharesight.
4. We will run a daily sync job that will retrieve your day's trading from IB using the credentials provided and process the trades into Sharesight.
This integration will require some fairly extensive development on our part. We will look to begin work once some pressing work relating to the end of the Australian tax year has been completed.
I will post another update when work is under way.
A big thanks to all those who have provided example files and suggestions.
Regards

Hi John,
Thanks for the suggestion. We are happy to look at adding support for Interactive Brokers Australia.
Do you have some sample contract notes that you could share with us for development purposes? As soon as we have some samples available we can look at creating a processing template. If you can help please email any samples to me directly (scott@sharesight.com). Thanks.-

Not sure if IB send out contract notes by email. They do seem to have robust API's which may help though.
I think someone more technical than me needs to investigate though!

IB doesn't provide contract notes, but it's easy to upload trades.

2Hi Duncan,
From what we can gather Interactive Brokers does not send contract notes out by email. As you point out though, they have a capable IT team who maintain APIs, etc. You're not the first person to request support for Interactive Brokers and we certainly want to build a connection.
We'll our best to chat with IB to see what steps we can take to support their trades.
Cheers,

Adding Interactive Brokers would make me subscribe.

Hi Adam,
We do have one client who's currently having Interactive broker send through all trades to Sharesight. It was done using FTP. If Interactive broker can arrange the same service for you, then you just need to provide us the FTP host, user & password. Perhaps worth checking with your broker?
In the meantime, I'm contacting IB for an alternative solution. -
-
I get emails from interactive brokers, I have set up a Trade Alert. The email looks like this:
BOUGHT 10 CHMT @ 23.09 (UXXX9225) as of 2015-01-07 09:40:24 -
-
Hi Christian,
Thank you for the information. We can probably use this feature. The only issues are that the price here $23.09 is most likely a rounded figure and brokerage isn't mentioned, so the total cost (units* price+ brokerage) will differ from the actual cost. -

Hi Lulu
Has there been any progress on the adding IB as a supported broker. I note a PDF report can be created of all trades on a daily basis, would this be helpful?
Thanks - Ryan-
Hi Ryan,
Sorry for the delay in replying to you. Basically our current contract note email import service has been designed around Contract Notes which are sent as a single PDF attachment per email with the PDF contract note containing only a single trade record. This functionality works well for virtually all Australasian brokers, but unfortunately not for Interactive Brokers. As lulu mentioned, we do support their FTP service but unfortunately this is only available to their wholesale clients.
We've investigated a variety of options for retail Interactive Brokers clients, but due to the development work required and the relatively low demand we've been unable to prioritise this work. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - eventually we'd like to have a solution available, but right now it's not something that we're working on and therefore no timeframe is available.
For now the csv upload is the best alternative to manual entry if you have a large volume of trades. -
-
I would like you to add NABTrade that I am now using for my Australian shares, the NZ broker costs being too high and their exchange rates too low.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Interactive Brokers importing?.
Please can you add Interactive Brokers to your list of supported brokers for importing? Thanks -

Hi Richie,
Thanks for your post! Unfortunately, this is not an addition that can be implemented anytime soon. To explain, basically, our current contract note email import service has been designed around Contract Notes which are sent as a single PDF attachment per email with the PDF contract note containing only a single trade record.
This functionality works well for virtually all Australasian brokers, however unfortunately not for Interactive Brokers. We do support their FTP service but unfortunately this is only available to their wholesale clients.
We've investigated a variety of options for retail Interactive Brokers clients like yourself, however due to the development work required and the relatively low demand we've been unable to prioritise this work. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - eventually we'd like to have a solution available, but right now it's not something that we're working on and therefore no timeframe is available.
For now the csv upload is the best alternative to manual entry if you have a large volume of trades.
We apologise for the inconvenience!

Can anyone advise how to get a CSV from interactive brokers? I too would also like to see them added as a broker. As I have a portfolio with them here in Hong Kong and my Australian portfolio. Thanks, Charde
-
Charles, I think this is what you are looking for - just email IB and tell them if you want to use their FTP server or yours. Suggest you use the GPG option:
https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en...
Hope that helps. -

I am not sure why this Sharesight gets such high praise if it cannot connect to IB or more brokerages in general. I was looking at using Xero for my accounting and using Sharesight as the investment manager. However, cvs uploads or emailed pdfs are not workable solutions for those of us who are frequent traders.

1Hi Paul,
We support about 80 brokers in Australasia and are expanding our reach overseas. The connection with IB is something that we have implemented with our professional clients, however, we have yet to make it available to our Investor and Expert plans as it's quite resource intensive.
It might be time, however, to revisit this based on client demand.
What other brokers would you like to see Sharesight connect to?

I've been watching this thread with interest. IB sends trade notifications about a day after trading, and those can be exported as PDF from IB's Account Management area. Integrating these might be an easy first step. I'm happy to provide any types of information you might need to check this out. I agree that IB support would be SUPERB - as a NZ based investor trading US securities, this is a big part of my trading. I also trade options, but supporting those is another story entirely...

Hi Kelly,
I'm keen to explore your suggestion in more detail.
If you would be happy to send a couple of example PDF's through to me I will investigate further with our team here.
You can send them direct to me at ben.clendon@sharesight.co.nz
Please note your examples would be shared internally for the purposes of assessing the opportunity.
Many thanks for your suggestion.

I also manage an IB portfolio second to my CMC portfolio. I too would like sharesight integration. More people than you think probably have an IB account but don't mentioned it since it's not supported by Sharesight.

absolutely necessary to add interactive brokers. Don't forget, they work with many licensees around the world and many many clients! Adriaan

I concur it's definitely necessary to integrate IB as it's the brokerage of choice for the informed wholesale investor.

I also need IB integration to be able to use Sharesight. It should require no manual work from investors to add trades to Sharesight.

I'd love IB added, as well as Optionsxpress.
I'd like to be able to track options through share sight also - especially written calls and puts.
Thanks! -

Doug (CEO) 7 months ago you posted that Sharesight were considering bringing IB to the Expert and Investor plans. Any update on that ?
I also sit in the wings waiting for Sharesight to add IB, so I can combine the lowest cost access to Global Markets with a fully automated end to end admin :-
IB --> Sharesight --> XERO is what I'm aiming for.

Interactive Brokers support would be fantastic.
Understand that contract note process is probably difficult but direct integrations (like you have with CMC etc.) wouldn't be too hard I thought...
I was under the impression that IBs APIs etc were pretty user friendly... -

Allen - Just in case you missed Duncan's reply, we already support nabtrade contract notes. Here's how to send them to Sharesight in order to have future trades automatically incorporated into your portfolio: https://help.sharesight.com/contract_...

How is Sharesight tracking with IB integration? Considering the volume of ANZ brokers supported I would assume you have made progress by now?
What is the issue?-
Hi Mitchell,In the last few minutes we released our new 20 min delayed pricing feature for the ASX. We've been focusing on this feature as it ranked as the most popular on our forum.IB integration is the next most popular feature, so I'm starting to look into this today.I will keep this topic updated as we work out a plan of attack.RegardsBen

Hi All,
During our initial scoping work regarding an IB integration we have come across a very new API (Application Programming Interface) feature that IB only introduced 2 months ago. This new IB feature is likely our best opportunity for providing an integration into Sharesight.
This API currently only supports trading within the US markets, but they do have plans to expand to other markets.
However, the current early structure of the API does not support the importing of our clients data into Sharesight in the manner we require.
We met with IB this morning and discussed what we require from this API and also sought clarification from IB about their development plans for the API moving forward.
They have indicated they will get back to us next week with more information about the possibility of working with us on a solution and also their road-map moving forward.
I will update this forum topic when we know more.

Thanks Ben, good to hear, watching with keen interest in how it goes.

Hi All,
A quick update on our IB integration.
Following on from my last post, we've received a response back from IB. See below a couple of the questions we put to them and the answers we've received back.
Question: Does the API have the ability to import a client’s full trading history
Answer: This is not yet available, but it is in the development queue to add to the WebAPI
Question: What is the road map for IB to add support for exchanges outside of the US, eg ASX and NZX
Answer: Adding global stocks is in progress. It will likely take 3-4 weeks.
I will be following up with them in the next two months if I haven't heard back sooner.

I am another Australian-tax-frustrated customer of IB.
IB integration would be excellent. -

Hi Charde,
We have had an update - on the 21st June Interactive Brokers informed us they now support stocks worldwide (I'm not quite sure how wide they mean) via their new API.
So, that would appear to tackle one of two outstanding issues we have with their API.
The remaining issues make integration impossible right now, but they do have tasks in their development queue to tackle these remaining problems.
They are keeping us informed with their progress, so I shall endeavour to post those updates on this forum topic as I receive them.
