Automatic email processing of dividend statements

Being able to email my buy/sell confirmations is great.

What would be greater would be to be able to email in dividend statements.

Will sharesight be adding this functionality?

  • Hi Muzzle,

Super idea and yes we totally agree! This is a topic we discuss often internally.

The main hurdle is that dividend statements (for both shares and funds) are not sent electronically as PDF attachments, for example. If they were, then we could teach our system to automatically recognise the various statements from the various registries, brokers, etc.

If you somehow receive your dividend statements via email please do let us know.

And with all that said there are technologies now, which can recognise say a photo or a scanned copy of a statement - just some of the things our engineers are exploring for down the track...

    Cheers,

    Doug

  • Well I know at least computershare allows me to download my statements as pdfs. I think they will now be emailing them to me in future. Then I could just forward the email on to you guys (or get them to send it to you as well as me).

Not sure about the other share registry companies.

  • An auto-forward (or just adding your Sharesight portfolio email address to your Computershare settings) is certainly an idea worth considering...

We'll need to see a few copies of dividend statements to see if the formatting is consistent.

We can try this out using our own accounts for the time being while we weight this up.

    Thanks for the idea!

  • Is there any update on this idea?

Will make it a lot easier to pull together source docs when needed to support CGT calculations (especially where DRP is involved and need to go back through several years of dividend statements to substantiate figures).

  • There is another thread titled Dividend Email Import that suggests the same as this thread. It has the topic as Under consideration where as this thread's topic is not planned. The other thread was last updated 4 years ago and this thread 6 months ago. So I am posting here.

I am also interested to know if this idea has progressed. ?

Even as a part step if the user manually downloads pdf's from the share registries and then manually emails them to sharesight. That would save a lot of time, if sharesight added the pdf to the automatically created dividend entry and cross checked the pdf against what sharesight already had in there.
then flag the user to say, its all a match or look into a discrepancy.
