Benchmarking in performance reports

Hi,

Would great if you could add the benchmarking feature to performance reports. Ideally when you print a performance report you want to see how you compared with a benchmark.

Also if you could add managed funds and shares (in addition to ETFs) to select as the benchmark would be great.

Adding managed funds would allow you to compare your performance to a diversified portfolio eg. (70% growth, 30% defensive Vanguard Lifestyle Growth Fund VAN0014AU).

Adding shares would allow you to compare your portfolio with say the alternative of investing all your money in a Listed Investment Company.

Cheers

  • Hi Daniel,

Great feedback re the Performance Report. One thing we need to consider is how to display the benchmark versus your portfolio on this page. On the PR you can choose between $ or % and the PR breaks down your performance across asset groupings, capital returns, currency, and distribution income.

Comparing % to % would be easy enough. Perhaps we repeat the benchmark in each asset grouping section and then on the sum line.

It would be more difficult, however, to display the indexed performance of your portfolio versus the benchmark (i.e. the benchmark chart) as this is a rolled up figure.

Good point on using diversified funds and shares - we're taking this into consideration.

    Cheers,

    Doug

As I posted here the performance report is only useful for me to compare between two dates.
Ideally I would like to see:
    1. The ability to choose a wide date range (eg start of portfolio- say 13 Jan 2009 to today (6 Feb 2015)
    2. User would be given option to choose whether to show: performance aggregates for annualised and absolute: i) entire date range chosen (ie if from inception to current date this would give a 'from inception', but not necessarily limited from inception) ii) for chosen 'mini' groupings within the wider period (eg by week, by month end/start, by financial year, by calendar year)
It would be fantastic if the ETF comparison could also provide these same stats for comparison purposes.
The calculation is done, and the complex part of the visualisation seems to be implemented so I would hope this is a simple implementation.

This feature would allow direct comparison with managed funds via their literature etc as well as friends :)
    Thanks,
    Darren

Benchmarking in Performance Reports should be included – ideally with the ability to display more than one benchmark.

OVERVIEW should also include Custom Range of dates – and display more than one benchmark.

From an aesthetic perspective, the performance graph lines in Overview are crudely thick. [I am on a Mac using Safari.]

    Thanks

  • Hi team any update on being able to run custom performance dates and include a benchmark? This has been raised several times over the last few years... The overview page can include a benchmark so you would think this is relatively easy to adopt.

On a related note, having the ability to select a bechmark within the contributions report would also make the report a lot more valuable.

    Thanks Matt

  • Hi Matt,

Unfortunately we haven't made progress on this idea.

I have added a note to the feature request and will make sure I update this forum topic with any progress.

In terms of priority, we still have 6 or so feature requests with more 'like's' and therefore are likely to be developed sooner.

I will add a new feature request to our backlog that captures your second suggestion regarding benchmarking on the contributions report. That seems like a great idea.

    Regards
    Ben
