custom asset allocation calcs

I'd like to report on my entire portfolio's overall asset allocation eg:

Aus Shares 30%
International shares 25%
Bonds 10%

etc... including values from managed funds and ETFs.

I don't think this is possible at the moment?

I'd like to see it incorporated into the tagging system if possible. So I can set my own asset categories and apply a % of how much of each configured asset contributes to the category (ie a vanguard managed fund I hold might contribute 10% of its value to a "Bonds" tag). And a summary report based on those tags & percentages.

BTW: VEU.AX is incorrectly marked as in the USA in the diversity report. Also WDIV.AX and others are not 100% australian.

  • Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the feedback, you touch on two features here:

Broad asset allocation breakdowns AND classifications based on the underlying holdings of funds and ETFs. Both are features we plan to add.

Please note that currently in the Diversity Report, using the Industry Classification (GICs) view will work for your individual share holdings, but as you've seen ETFs and managed funds are "Not Classified."

You can change this however, by going into the holding page and reclassifying the investment. You'll notice the dropdown box within the Instrument Detail box, which you can set to whichever GIC you feel appropriate - again though, you need to use the GIC classifier.

Assuming we source this additional data from Morningstar (our current managed funds data provider), your ETFs and managed funds will automatically be classified per asset class breakdown as they do "bottoms-up" classification.

We'll take a look at those securities you mention as well.

    Cheers,

    Doug

  • bearing in mind that asset allocation is responsible for ~90% of portfolio performance, id like see this utility of the package

please devise means of adapting my data to the requirements of AA.

In addition, rebalancing is an important part of the process. please devise a simple rebalancing tool.

these two additions will greatly enhance the product. a similar request was made 1 yr ago. john
