Enhanced Performance Charts

1. The performance charts would be better if they had a scale on the date and value axis.

2. When using a long date range to show performance charts, it would be useful to colour code the part of the chart when the stock was held.

3. How about a 'compare' tool to plot Share X with Share Y on the graph instead of the standard ASX 200 index.

4. I'd love to see a "Portfolio View" of charts whereby each stock has a mini graph of performance over a given time to view which stocks are performing in the portfolio.

  • Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your suggestions regarding improved charting.

We're looking to review both charting and benchmarking later in the year and we will certainly take your suggestions in to consideration.

If anyone else has any ideas for improved charting please leave a comment below!

  • Hi Scott,

I agree with Andrew that the graphs really need a scale to get an appreciation of portfolio growth. It seems silly to need to hover over a bar to get information, when a scale can easily tell you this information.

Also, the starting value of some of my shares do not match the share purchase price. As a result, the graphs are visually showing I have made a capital gain, while the calculated value is saying I have made a lost (this is correct BTW).

Also, been able see multiple shares on a single webpage or having the ability to compare the performance of different companies would be beneficial.

  • Hi Brett,

Thanks for your feedback, and yes, the charts would benefit from a scale. To your point on plotting multiple shares (or even portfolios perhaps) we have a benchmarking project scheduled over the next couple months. This will likely be a phased project, but will include benchmarking against major indexes and portfolio vs portfolio benchmarking. You can be sure that in addition to listing benchmark data on some of the reports, upgrading our charts will be part of this project.

We'll aim to make the chart scales visible and accurate as part of this project too.

    Cheers,

    Doug

  • There are a number of very good professional charting products out there. Share sight should co-operate with a couple of these to permit an automatic feed of holdings into these rather than spend resources trying to duplicate a specialised area.
