Game specific forums

ok so when you look at a normal forum, u see news, general discussion, some other stuff, is it perhaps possible to implement specific sections like: Aion, Guild Wars 2 and add a whole forum to it, and instead of seeing them all on 1 page you first have to click on 1 of them like Aion which will load the news/general discussion/etc from Aion but not from Guild Wars 2, this way members wont accidentally go to the wrong general discussion forum.

i hope you understand what i men't

This idea would be VERY helpful because i don't want people to make threads in the Classes parent forum but only in its sub forums

Hi MrGrim,

You can do this if you like using the Forum Sections; each forum section you create is clickable and takes you to its own page which then lists all forums and subforums there, just like your forum root page...

So you could create a Forum Section for each game if you like, then rather then linking to the Forums Root page (/forums) from your main menu, you could change that to instead link to several of the Forum Sections (perhaps using the dropdown options) =)

We're looking at adding better multi-gaming support soon tho, so we likely will have some better support for this soon as well =)

Cheers,

Ok and for this i need to create a custom page for every game forum right? (if i'm understanding correctly XD) if that's the case how do i add a forum box in the layout page it only gives me to option to make it custom, or a copy of the home layout. and will i be able to move threads from 1 of the pages to the other? and the drop down menu doesn't work for the menu in the top because of the add and i would like to keep using that menu.

Hi MrGrim,

Ah no, here is an example:

http://championsonlineroleplayers.shi... (their root forums)

Now if you click on each section (such as Super Base, Heroes of the City, Millenium City, etc.) it takes you to a new page for that section:

http://championsonlineroleplayers.shi... (Super Base)
http://championsonlineroleplayers.shi... (Heroes ...)
http://championsonlineroleplayers.shi... (Millenium ...)

You will see each of those pages looks like the forum root, but just listing the forums only for those sections...

So using those pages, you could then link to those as your game specific forums, rather then linking to the forums root =)

I hope that helps,

Ah thanks, and about the drop down menu for in the top i get that its removed because of the add and i know its important to have adds but are you perhaps thinking of ways to have both the drop down menu and the add? because i would like a drop down menu and the menu in that location.

You can still have dropdowns if you switch to our Main Menu block, which you can add from the Layout tab of your Site Admin =)

We are looking at adding some alternate layout options soon tho, which will allow you to reposition the user status and menu to different areas, along with other elements; when this goes live there will be more flexibility here as well =)

Cheers,
