School workshops (Rocketry)

Looking to get public liability insurance for working in schools.
I do workshops, mostly in STEM and use model rockets as the main part of the workshops. I use Air, water and chemical rockets. The kids build them from kits and we lainch them outside. I have helped out with some other groups and now want to branch out on my own, This is not my main job and will only be doing it about 10-20 times a year at the most. I would need my own insurance as the BMFA insurance I have for flying Rockets does not insure me if I am paid for the service, only hobby. Told i would need about £5mill insurance, any idea of costs involved? thanks. Colin

Hi Colin,

I have spoken to our under-writers and they have said that unfortunately we would not be able to cover for this type of activity.

However; we have a business partner called The Business Octopus who will be able to help. They look at different insurers and are therefore able to look at different insurance needs.

To contact them please call 0161 968 2043. I hope this helps but if you do need any help please just drop us a message :)

40,000,000 model rocket launches and not 1 fatality. used all over the world. managed to get insurance for one of the largest rockets launched in the UK. Why would you not insure???? is it too safe?

Hi Colin,

I'm sure it is safe! However, we currently have no specific trade for rockets in our trade headings.

If you want to call us on 0845 450 9959 we can see the full activities that you perform to see where if we can help you!

I hope this helps! :)
