  • We cannot disclose upcoming or future product plans, so cannot directly answer this question.

With that said, we have received numberous customer requests to support Android tablets (Honeycomb) with a version of SketchBook Pro.

When new products or platform support become available, we will definitely make an official announcement and post on http://www.sketchbooknews.com.

  • I’m anxious
One of the main reasons I haven't gotten an android tablet is because there isn't a pro sketchbook yet.

  • Same here. I've been waiting for either a tablet optimized version of Sketchbook Mobile (although Pro would be even more awesome!) or for more powerful tablets to arrive. Each time I've tried installing and running the free Sketchbook Express on any of the current crop of tablets available in stores there has always been a significant lag in strokes. I’m hoping this just comes down to optimizations that can be made, although I’d be willing to believe that the variety of hardware could make that a non-trivial task.

In any case, I understand you cannot comment on future plans but I am glad to know that you know we are here, anxiously hoping and waiting. Keep up the great work on an awesome tool!

  • Thrilled to see you've released SBP for Honeycomb! I can't wait to try it, now I finally have a good reason to get a tablet! Thanks you! You guys rock!

  • Long time sb pro user on Windows . Just got an Acer iconia tablet and sb pro for it. Works great, I am so stoked about sketching on a much more friendly form factor. I might be able to dump my hp touch smart altogether now. I would request the ability to edit image and canvas sizes. Thanks

  • so what is the major difference between this version and the mobile version to justify me paying another 5 bucks for the same App? Other than having landscape support. I mean now I have a tablet I wont be using the mobile version on my phone anymore, so does that mean I spent 5 bucks on a app I wont use anymore only to be required to buy the same app with just a slightly different layout?

Im just a bit confused as to why a seperate app needed to be released when the existing one chould have just been updated instead.

  • To be fair, I don't think the Mobile version on Android has ever been more than $0.99 (at least that is how much I paid and is how much it costs now).

As to the specific reasons why they chose to make a separate Pro version as opposed to just updating the Mobile app, I can only speculate. If it came down solely to code level incompatibilities between the 2.x and 3.0 versions then my understanding is that they still would have had to make it a separate Market release as Google only added support for multiple APKs (for different Android versions) shortly after Autodesk announced Pro for Honeycomb.

If that was in fact the reason, I suppose one could argue why it wasn't released at the same price point as the previous Mobile version, but then I *personally* would argue that $5.99 ($5 + the $0.99 paid for the original Mobile version) is still completely worth it for a tool as great as SBP.

  • I wont argue that sb is a great app, I just wish they would consider those that have aready paid for the previous version and not include them on the update. I paid the 4.99 for the mobile version when it first came out, guess there was a drastic price drop. However this is autodesk we are talking about, there is a newer version of their program it seems every 6 months. Really hated updating to a newer version of ACAD when I had just gotten use to the previous release. Then again the company paid for it so it really was not hurting my wallet.

guess I will just have to bite the bullet and fork over the cash....

  • So let me understand, as of today 8-14-11, there is an app on the Android Market, called Sketchbook Pro? And it's optimized for working with an Android tablet? Because the OP's question was answered by an official rep, with saying that there wasn't a Sketchbook Pro app, available for Android tablets, which was posted over a month ago. But as of fifteen days ago, the person said they had an Iconia with Sketchbook Pro running on it. So basically, I really just want to one hundred percent verify, that there is a working copy of Sketchbook Pro, available to anyone with an Android tablet? Because really, the ability to use Sketchbook Pro on an Android tablet, is pretty much the sole reason I'm planning on buying one.
