iPhone app closes during workout

While doing workouts on treadmill or elliptical with skimble, the app closes and I lose my place! I am using an iPod touch (Generation 4) and all software is updated. This has been happening since I downloaded the app. My workout music is still playing but the app closes and I've lost my place. This makes me very sad and frustrated. Thanks.

Hi Cynthia,

Sorry about this problem! What workout are you doing when the app closes on you? Is it a specific one or does it happen in any workout in Workout Trainer? Also, does it happen after a certain amount of time or just randomly. Any more information you can give us will help fix this.

Thanks for reporting this problem.

(ACK! Was waiting all day for a response and must be I didn't hit reply last night!!) Ok, so I have used workouts on the treadmill and stationary bike while in workout trainer. I'm usually in the zone while working out so I don't know exactly how far into the workout I am. I though maybe I should uninstall and re-install the program from my iTunes rather than from the iPod. This still did nothing. It continued to close out before the workout was complete. Any more that you need to know I will be happy to help with. I would love to upgrade to PRO, but want this issue resolved first. Thanks

Cynthia,

We are still investigating this problem, but it may take a week or two to fully resolve. I recommend that before you do a workout, close Workout Trainer fully and then open it again. This may prevent the problem from appearing. Here are instructions on how to fully close an app on your iPod: http://isource.com/2010/06/28/how-to-...

For your trouble, we have given you a year of Workout Trainer Pro for free - enjoy! We'll let you know when we have fully resolved this problem.

Thanks,
Gabe

Gabe,

I wanted to thank you for upgrading me to the Pro. I have been quite busy using it. I have also been experimenting with the app and it closing out while in a workout. This is what I've noticed--if I plug my iPod into the treadmill (or even my surround sound) the app closes out. If I don't plug it in, it stays open. Their was once however when I didn't have it plugged in and it closed out anyway. This was while I was doing the pedal to the medal 12:30. Like I said, this happened to me once. I'm afraid of draining iPod battery as I become more active. I hope this helps in solving the problem.
Thanks for all your help!

Cynthia,

Thanks for all the extra details! We will test those scenarios and hopefully have fixes for them in our next update to Workout Trainer (along with a bunch of other improvements). That update should be available within the next few weeks.

Let me know if you have more feedback or questions.
