Letters, words and Cursive handwriting.

Hi, wonder if anyone can help... My 5 year old daughter with autism is having trouble writing and spelling, so I'm trying to get her to use the ipad. We like iwrite words, where letters can be traced, but it would be helpful to have the option to choose which letters and which words need spelling (eg this week her words are ship, shop, shed!).
Do you know of anything like this? Or could a developer take requests do you think?! The other issue is that the school teach cursive handwriting (we're in the UK) so any idea of apps good for that?! There seem to be a few different styles..

week's words is an app that let's you put in your own words and then has different exercises to learn to spell them and tests. unfortunately it doesn't have the writing component.

spelling city is a program that my daughter's teacher uses and we LOVE it. it's a website, but also has an app to go with it. the website has an option where you can print a cursive handwriting page of the spelling words. not sure you can do that with their app, though.

another tool that i use for my daughter (on the autism spectrum) is the Word Search app by Jeff Lowry. you can print out a word search with the words you choose (even put in a word multiple times). this has been extremely helpful for my very visual child! (you must print the word search on paper)

Little Writer by Alligator apps lets you put in your own words but is not cursive

I have a couple more I can recommend just for letter formation if you're interested.

Touch write cursive is a good app, however at five she should only be at the beginning of handwriting and spelling. It is more important to work on pre writing skills .

Touch Write or Write My Name would be good. Even though the app is called Write My Name, you can put any word you want on the tags.

My daughter's class has 5yr olds writing sentences! It's amazing what they're doing in schools these days. I'm sure I didn't do what they do now until I was about 7.

Thank you all so much for these answers, they've given me lots to go away and look at and I think I'm going to try and confer with school too. So thanks!
