Hi Community
The Smartsoft team is excited to share with our users a new project that we have been developing this year. PracSuite is a new professional grade online cloud practice management system (PMS) for the Australian allied health industry. PracSuite will not replace Front Desk but will be a separate product for those seeking a cloud/browser-based product. Note that there are advantages and disadvantages to both desktop and browser-based products. Based on individual needs, either the Front Desk or PracSuite product may suit you best.
The project is still under close wraps, but we are pleased to share with you the following:
- Smartsoft will be using all our practice management knowledge and advanced software development skills accumulated over the past 20 years to deliver a new standard of professional browser-based PMS.
- We are working hard to ensure that ease of use, simple workflows, advanced configuration and features, together with the high level of support that our current Front Desk users’ value is maintained.
- Smartsoft will not be compromising on security and protection of your data, together with high availability through our ‘gold standard’ system architectural design and cloud hosting platform.
- An easy, no cost migration path, including a full data transfer, will be offered to users with a current support agreement moving from Front Desk to PracSuite.
- Previews of PracSuite will begin mid-2019, with an expected release date in the first half of 2020 when all our feature and quality standards are met.
- A survey will be sent to all Front Desk users over the next few weeks to help further gain customer insights into what is important to you so that we can set priorities for this new project.
Kind regards

Thank you for your post. I am happy to report that the PracSuite development is going well with the product shaping up to the Smartsoft high standards that you’re used to. The site looks great, the workflows are excellent and the configuration options will cater to real-world practice management needs. We are looking forward to being able to show it to our users.
At this stage, Xero integration is confirmed with the possibility of MYOB integration if there is enough demand.

Thank you for stimulating some discussion on Pracsuite. Currently, Medicare is revising their new claiming PMS interface, and once this is ratified, we will include this functionality in Pracsuite.
Front Desk has 20 years of software development under the hood, so it will take some time for Pracsuite to have all the like-for-like features. Having said this, starting with a clean slate and a new platform has allowed us to add some new and exciting features not easily possible in Front Desk.
Our focus will be on adding value for our users through quality products and support rather than having the ‘cheapest’ offering. As an example, we will not be supporting out-of-office workers, such as support staff taking calls from home, accessing your data in an unsupervised environment. Further, our integrations will work as intended in real-world situations, which I believe may not be the experience industry wide.
After Pracsuite is released, we will be publishing a roadmap of future developments in the next 12 months to help users considering migration to the new product plan their entry point.

The new platform will allow for access to cloud API's by 3rd parties. The API's will be available to approved vendors that meet our data use and privacy policies. Both the Pracsuite end-user and Smartsoft will need to authorise access to user data held in the system.
As an update, we are currently in discussions with ClinicApps as a possible early integrator.
I note you had a recent demo of Pracsuite with Tim. What was your initial thoughts on the "look and feel" and overall quality of the product?

Just wondering when there is a more concrete release for pracsuite. I have to update my server by Jan 2020, as Server 2008Microsoft won't be supported by updates after this date. So I am looking to update frontdesk to pracsuite long before this date to avoid having to use a server, as the main reason I use a server was to service frontdesk.
Any ideas when we will see a rollout, as 'end of the year' is close. You can write off Dec with holidays and xmas rush, as major changes need support and I would bet a Dec rollout won't happen
Cheers Dean

Thanks for your interest in Pracsuite. We plan a soft release of Pracsuite late this year together with a roadmap of future developments on the product, which will happen quite quickly over 2020.
Due to individual needs, it would be best that you contact our business care team, who can give you a better indication to your enquiry based on your current use of Front Desk. They may even give you a peek of the development Pracsuite system :). I suggest you will not need to be concerned about renewing your current IT infrastructure.
regards
Tony

We understand from the Physio conference (having spoken to Medipass) you were in discussion with Medipass about integration and they reported they were keen to integrate, it was just up to Smartsoft re their integration. In lieu of a DVA/Medicare portal when you first release is this a realistic option to allow a earlier switch to Pracsuite?
Can you advise any further?

Thank you for asking about the Pracsuite development. Things are going well, and we expect to release the product to some of our user group this year. A roadmap will be released at that time. At this stage, the feedback from users that have seen the product is hugely positive.
Concerning Medipass, our preferred option is to integrate directly with Medicare and DVA Online as a priority, even if it takes a little longer, as our users will appreciate the added functionality this will provide. We currently support practices using multiple PMS systems in their enterprises, and their feedback to us is that they prefer the Medicare and DVA online functionality in Front Desk over other options. We wish to bring this functionality also to Pracsuite.
It would be best to contact our business care team to discuss your individual needs and if the product will be suitable for you by January so that you can make appropriate arrangements.

Like many other users who are big fans of Front Desk, I have been waiting a very long time for the release of this software. It is now well beyond the projected release date. As with many others on this forum, I have held off looking at other platforms.
I have had a preview of the new platform - what I have seen is super impressive. However are number of pretty critical integrations are not going to be ready at launch and won't be for some time from what I understand. In particular;
- There is no eftpos integration at all with the new platform - this means double the amount of processing, both via the eftpos terminal and on PracSuite. I find this absolutely staggering and to be told that other practices don't see this as an issue surprises me
- Physitrack is not integrated with the new platform
- As has been mentioned here extensively Medicare and DVA are not integrated. Personally for our practice, I am less worried about this. For others it is a significant hurdle
I agree with Julienne - there is a lack of transparency about when exactly all of this will be offered. The distinct impression I have is this may well be into the 2nd quarter of next year at the earliest.
I have loved Front Desk, still do, it is a great product, the support team you have are phenomenal. We are no longer able to sustain a platform that is not cloud based. I need some clarity on when eftpos integration and physitrack will work with Prac Suite. If it is beyond January 2020, we will have to explore a new provider.

You were informed that Medicare/DVA integration would not be available until mid-2020 in a "transparent and realistic" manner in July this year.
Not sure how we could better assist you.

We could have done better with the Xero integration, which was late and the patient online intake forms, which is still in development. On the flip side, our integrations go the extra mile and work correctly in real-world environments. This can't be said for all vendors.
In regards to PracSuite, we have always stated a release date of this year, with interfaces to follow quickly afterwards into 2020.
In your particular situation, I can say that EFTPOS integration will be one of the first interfaces to be released. In regard to Medicare/DVA the release will occur shortly after Medicare releases its new online interface in early 2020.
Thank you for your kind words in regards to Front Desk and the support you have received by our team in the past. Further, as you have stated, PracSuite is "super impressive", which we believe will set a new standard for cloud-based practice management software.
At Smartsoft, we believe that your practice management software is critical to the running of your practice and some times the extra care we take, means that it takes us a little longer to implement. I hope you can wait, but if you can't we understand.
Thanks
Tony

Thanks for yesterdays email update about the Pracsuite program.
Unfortunately, because so many features such as Online booking with be absent at launch it is a long way from being a product that we can consider for our use at this time. However we will look on with interest as the product develops.
One question i had was - are there any plans for an online payment platform at all - either for PracSuite or FD? Something that would enable pre-payment for classes etc? I know it is something that has been "planned" for a while but discussion has fallen off the radar....Any chance of an update. it would be a game changer for us.

Regarding online
payments, we are aiming to bring this functionality to both Front Desk and PracSuite
next year.

Good to hear about online payments - but you fell into the trap of quoting a timeline... I will hold you to that - a 2020 launch for online payments :)

Our initial release with testing users over the coming month will not include the online booking function, but this will be our highest priority once testing has started. Regarding Medicare, we will be integrating directly with Medicare & DVA rather than going through a third-party so that we can provide the best user experience. Currently, Medicare is finalising its vendor interface for cloud practice management systems. At this time, our expectation is for a Medicare/DVA integration release in June/July.
Depending on your individual needs your entry point to migrate to PracSuite may vary.

What about online booking - I guess that will fall into the 2nd half of 2020?
Here's a big question when roughly will FD as it currently is be able to be replaced by PracSuite i.e. providing very similar functionality?
Last question, what I would find very helpful would be some guidance for say when PracSuite is up & running but maybe not with full functionality that we are used to, how can we use PracSuite and find other ways to address the areas it doesn't provide???

Our efforts to date have been to match or exceed the Front Desk functionality in the critical areas of appointment booking, billing, clinical notes and reporting to meet "real-world" practice management needs. Together with our fast and innovative interface, we see this as significantly adding value for our users. Adding of third-party interfaces will follow shortly after with a direct Medicare/DVA integration being available in the second half of this year.
We will have more information to share regarding what features are available in the launch version of PracSuite in the coming weeks to help you plan your entry point into the product.
