Smugmug iPad app can't refresh or reconnect

The Smugmug iPad app has no update or refresh button, and when it looses connection - which it seems to do even while the iPad is still conncted via WiFi - there is no way to reconnect it. Also, while not connected, even though it claims that offline content is still available, no content is visible.

I'm sorry about your iPad app troubles.

Can you at first check that you have connectivity to the internet by opening the Safari browser and going to www.smugmug.com ? Especially if you're on public WiFi, there may be a login page before you can use the WiFi fully.

Once you've made sure of unrestricted internet connectivity and you still have an issue with the app getting connected, close the app completely. If you're on iOS 4.x hitting the home button will still keep the app ready in memory. To close it down properly, double click the home button and hold down your finger on the SmugMug app. Once the icon starts to wiggle, tap the red icon to close it.
Then you can tap on your homescreen and open the app from scratch.

If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can remove your account from the app. To do that tap on your account name from the app's main screen. Then use the '-' icon in the top right part of the app to remove the account.
Also clear the local app cache by going back to the main screen. There, click on the 'storage' button in the top right portion of the screen. Tap the "clear all local files". Also check that the "stop downloading" button isn't active. If so, tap that as well.

Same problem since yesterday. HTML5 D&D stopped to upload in Safari.
I installed MacDaddy. Daddy become dead around 6 hours ago. And finally http://well.smugmug.com/ returns "503 Service Unavailable" (

Any suggestions?

Hello all,

I find that the app will not refresh when I make changes to a gallery on the SmugMug web site. Any chance SmugMug could add a refresh button? That may be more complicated than it seems (I am not a tech person), but that would be handy for the users.

On the app, log off then log on. The app gallery will update to reflect the online gallery changes.

The logoff and logon doesn't refresh anything. Please just add a refresh button. The app is worthless without it.
