Hey guys!

So I can't seem to login into my Last.fm extension in songbird. This always worked for me until I updated songbird last night. For further explanations on the problem, please look at the picture provided.

What I've tried before:
- Yes, third party apps are checked.
- Yes, I re-installed the extension (more than once).
- Yes, I changed my password on Last.fm site to MAKE SURE I had the right password.

Can you figure out what's wrong?

Thanks for the help guys!

I have a question - I have build 1.8 but when I search for sbLastFm.js, nothing comes up. When I follow the directions to find the audioscrobbler folder, there is nothing. Am I doing something wrong? I'm pretty computer savvy but this seems like something went awry. Thanks in advance

Are you sure you are in the right folder? here's the directory for my vista computer:
C:\Users\hpr222\AppData\Roaming\Songbird2\Profiles\2simlyum.default\extensions
If you are in the proper folder then try reinstalling the Last.fm add-on and check again. If you reply back can you post your OS and what beta build of the 1.8 you have installed?
Thanks,
Hpr222

I have Windows XP & 1.8 b3. Thanks to you I was able to find the Audioscrobbler folder and patched the java file. Now, however, nothing at all happens when I click on the Last.FM icon on the bottom right, nothing is scrobbling and when I try to reinstall the add-on, it just continually say re-start for installation. Not sure what else I can do - I would really like to use Songbird

huh. Well as far as the last.fm addon not installing you may find a solution here and as far as the patch not working i don't really know i'll do some testing on my xp machines and i'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Okay here is my findings so far, I was able to reproduce Last.fm not responding after downloading my patched file on an xp machine (i have not tried a vista machine yet.). However, I was not able to reproduce (when reinstalling the Last.Fm addon) songbird needing to be constantly restarted to install the addon. Although i was able to get it working after manually patching the sbLast.Fm.js after a fresh install of the addon. I believe the reason last.fm is not responding is:
1. The sbLast.Fm.js came from a machine with a different OS on it.
or
2. You cannot "trade" or overwrite the existing sbLast.Fm.js file with one that was downloaded.
So in turn everyone must patch their own file by going to their audioscrobbler folder:
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Songbird2\Profiles\********.default\extensions\audioscrobbler@songbirdnest.com\components.
or
Windows vista: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Songbird2\Profiles\********.default\extensions\audioscrobbler@songbirdnest.com\components.
the patch is to edit the file in a editing application and changing:
if (loc.pathname != "/api/grantAccess") {

to

if (loc.pathname != "/api/grantaccess") {

the key is to lowercase the capital A.
This should be the fix for:
Windows Vista and XP machines running Songbird versions 1.8.0b3 and 1.7.3.
it was tested successfully on both OS 's and both versions.
Hope this helps you all!

How come Songbird hasn't fixed this very simple problem?

Actually songbird isn't to blame, what is happening is Last.fm modified what comes back to songbird. When you click the Grant Access button it used to send back to songbird: grantAccess Then Last.fm tinkered with something and now it is sending back: grantaccess and songbird doesn't know what to do so it thinks you put in the wrong password or username.

It's not Songbird at all. if you all didn't notice CBS uk now owns Last.fm. It may just be that they have control over just who and when you can access the service.

Hey guys. While they are fixing this problem, then you can just use this alternative add-on, which for me does the exact same thing as the official.
You can download it from: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OBJJBEAE
as described on: http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addon/...

Hi benbenben3,

I was just able to log in with no issue. If you are having difficulty logging into last.fm, could you please create a new topic with:

- your OS
- your songbird version
- the version of the last.fm addon you are using
- a specific set of steps to reproduce your problem

Thanks!
