Did you find our most sought-after bug?

The resident Bird Surgeons have been hard at work to fix a bug that caused Songbird to crash for some of you on Vista. They've added some code to work around the problem, but we still don't know exactly how to make it happen.

If you see this message, we really want to hear from you:

Songbird has detected that your Library is corrupt and cannot be read.
In order for Songbird to function correctly, your library needs to be deleted.
This action cannot be undone. You will lose subscriptions, playlists and track
metadata edited in Songbird. Your media files are safe and will not be deleted, but you'll need to rescan them.

BEFORE YOU DELETE THAT LIBRARY we want a copy. Ping us here and we'll tell you how to get it to us.

We'll send out a coveted Songbird Schwag Kit to the person/people who help us squash this bug once and for all.

I didn't even get an error message. Songbird updated some of my extensions to be compatible with the build, and then tried to run. I got a blank pale pink box and nothing else. even the the taskbar button is blank. I am on Vista. I will try it on my XP computer also.

Well, I started having this problem too right after I upgraded to v1.1.1 on Windows XP (I use it on linux too but I haven't upgraded to 1.1.1 yet) but for me it happens the FIRST time I run Songbird, and repeats every time, even after I delete my profile and I don't even have iTunes installed so it can't be because of it.

If I choose Quit instead of Delete Library I get This message:

[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80520012 (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND) [nsIXPCComponents_Utils.import]" nsresult: "0x80520012 (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://songbird/content/scripts/jumpToFile.js :: :: line 41" data: no]

I would sent my library but it is always blank, and even if I run it for the first time, without addons or importing files it happens! :( Even with a clean profile.

I think Ali doesn't need a screenshot but a copy of the library file.
At Windows, it can be found by typing "%appdata%\Songbird2\Profiles" in the Run-Window (or search box in Vista). There should be a subfolder named XXXXXXX.default. A subfolder of this is called "db". The library file is in this "db" folder and is named "main@library.songbirdnest.com.db"

I didn't say I would send a screen shot but it doesn't really matter if I send the .db file because it's a clean library, created on Songbird's first run. The error keeps on happening even when it creates the profile for the first time!

I ran v1.1.1 on linux already and it worked fine, and I upgraded XP to Vista and the error is the same on every Windows PC I've installed Songbird.

And besides what I wrote before, if I click Continue, the program starts after giving me the message above and if I click "Add-ons" or "Options" in the menu it doesn't open anything.

Yup, didn't say that just to you, but for all other users that suffer under this bug :-)

BTW: What happens if you replace the library file with this file: http://dieners.di.funpic.de/songbird/ main@library.songbirdnest.com.db

I've just now got it working!!! Hurrah! downloaded the library from Sunbird site and then started (Vista) with a RIGHT click of the mouse and started with 'Administrator Rights'. Now it works.

I'm lucky I am not experiencing any errors, I did however have problems with songbird displaying my library (wtf?) I already fixed it myself and posted the solution in my question thread.

How can I enable folder watch? Thanks

I'm getting this bug in Ubuntu Linux, trying to install 1.1.1 over 1.0. Clicking 'Delete and Restart' does indeed delete and replace the library files, but the same error message comes up right away afterwards. I tried replacing the library file with Lukas_Skywalker's from deiners.di.funpic.de, to no avail. Nuking the info in profiles.ini (i.e. forcing Songbird to create a new clean profile) results in no errors, but I've been unable to ascertain what/which files in the old profile have rendered it unusable.

Ali. Something you may like (or hate, since everybody enjoys a bludge):
http://www.getsatisfaction.com/songbi...

The bad thing is that their library isn't getting deleted.. The other bad news is that their library is corrupt.

Hi I was looking at one of the posts and 'hit' a hypertext mention of the library. It took me to the (I believe) FTP server and I was able to download it there. But, since then I have been able to get Songbird to work; I'd mentioned this. But although I can get it to start by using the Vista alternative of running the programme with Administrator Rights, I have to do this every time to get it to work.
I've checked all my firewall settings, but it isn't causing the problem.

I think we have something to work against. It's bug 15863 in Bugzilla (http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show....

In my case, this problem is related to the use of external hard disk.

Indeed, I get this error message when I try to create a new profile (using profile manager) stored on an external disk. The other profiles (default and new ones) stored in the default profile folder work just fine.

I am looking forward using a profile stored on an external disk, where I store my music files, in order to use it with other computers (with same OS, of course).
Could be a problem of file permission ?

OS: Mac OS X 10.5.7
Songbird 1.2.0, Build 1146

I upgraded to the latest songbird(Songbird 1.9.3, Build 1959) and updated my addons/extentions. Then I got the corrupt library error.

Windows 7 64 - music is on an external usb drive 32gb.
