It would be very helpful to have a keyboard shortcut for switching between the Mini and Main player

We have feature suggestion filed in Bugzilla to implement this shortcut.

To track the comments on this work item:
1. Go to the "people" box in the upper right hand corner of Bug #12979;
2. Add your email in the "add cc" box;
3. Scroll down and hit commit.

If you don't have a free bugzilla account, signing up is quick and easy and will allow you to share your feedback directly with the development team.

This is definitely needed, although I think there should also be a button on both the main and mini player interface to easily switch back and forth between them, for those of us that are not keyboard shortcut people.

For the buttons to switch between Main- and Miniplayer, try the Pane-Buttons-Addon: http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addon/...

Ah okay, I'll check out that extension. But I still think the buttons should
be part of the main and mini interface in the official build, there should be
no need for an extension to do this. It's a bit of a no brainer for me.
