I recently updated my songbird and now shoutcast is not supported? This is the reason I got songbird is for shoutcast. I'm on a Mac OSX 10.6.4

SHOUTcast addon needs some update to be compatible with the latest Songbird release. Before that, you can disable the compatibility check in Songbird by:

- Go to "about:config".
- Add boolean option "extensions.checkCompatibility" and set the value to false.

Restart Songbird should bring SHOUTcast back.

Thanks alfred !

now the only problem is to get the "Favorite" station thingy working again - I can click on a station via heart but don't know where the list of favorite stations is stored :(

adding shoutcast add-on worked - for those who can't get it to work:

ctrl + t (means new tab), type in "about:config" in the address bar then press [enter], in the field "filter" type in checkCom (nothing should appear), now right-click below the rows&columns saying "Preference Name, Status, Type, Value" select: New -> Boolean; when it asks for "Enter the preference name" copy&paste "extensions.checkCompatibility" (without the quotation marks), set the value to "false"

click into the field "Filter" (where still is written checkCom), type [Enter] - now the setting should appear, if it's set to "true" - (left)double-click on it that it becomes "false"

now go to: http://developer.songbirdnest.com/bui...
and left-click on the shoutcast-radio* xpi-file - left-click on allow in the upper right and it should install it, restart and it now should display below "RADIO" SHOUTcast - left-click on it and select your station

system is ~amd64, Gentoo Linux, 1.8.0.1747_beta3 build with lots of gstreamer-plugins installed

Type "about:config" in your address bar will bring you there. Click the "I'll be careful. I promise!" button. Right click the list and choose "New" -> "Boolean". Enter the preference name "extensions.checkCompatibility" and value "false".

Solution doesn't work (same with "DirectTune"). There are still no radio entries in the service pane. (1.8.0b3, Win7)

As developer of DirectTune all I can say is that there will be a compartible version, haven't looked at 1.8 yet. Some days around the release of the final (non-beta) 1.8, there will be a compartibility update.

DirectTune 1.1.1.0 is compartible to 1.9.0a and should be compartible to 1.8, too. Released at it's AddOn Page

Alfred, tried the fix too. It did not work for me. See all stations but none play. Checked the error log and found this one. I do not know if it is related but thought it might help

Error: formatURL: Couldn't find value for key: 20and
Source File: file:///C:/Program%20Files/Songbird/components/sbURLFormatter.js

hrmm, looks like the SHOUTcast service is just broken for my current network connection. Will try back later. You probably want to keep eyes on bug 21662 for further update. This should be fixed when 1.8.0 is released. Or you want to try your luck with the latest nightly SHOUTcast build?

well it's not workign under 1.8b3 for your information. and it can't even be installed since the shoutcast plug-in says it's build for 1.4.1. And as an end customer I'm not to keep on applying hacks. this should be fixed officially.

Yes, it's in progress and that's what the bug 21662 is about.

@Mike:
If you have no problems with untested software, you can use a nightly AddOn, there is the next version of shoutcast, but some things might fail...

EDIT: Most likely broken, see bug 21724

The SHOUTcast broken issue is now tracked by bug 21724. Please cc yourself to the bug if you're interested.

Sorry, if that one is obvious, but how do I "cc myself to the bug", because I'm indeed interested.

Currently I have 2 Songbird-Accounts. One for http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/ and the 2nd for https://profiles.songbirdnest.com/.

When I try to log-in with bugzilla.songbirdnest none of that is accepted. Are you seriously suggesting I have to setup a third account to deal with one tiny media player??? I'd rather would consider this structure a "bug" itself. Noone will do that and unless this is intended to keep customers away from asking too much, this is a really bad structure.

Sorry, you'll have to create another account for songbird bugzilla :( Well, I would feel this is more like a feature request for single sign on, which I'm not sure whether there is resource for that from POTI.

Assuming that a bugzilla account is ready, you can go to the bug and there is a checkbox "Add a@b.c to the cc list". Select that and press the commit button could add you to the list.

Thanks Alfred, for letting me know.

I know the rescources are limited, but I also think we can agree having that many log-ins is neither user friendly nor effective in any way.

I'm working on it. If you can't wait you can try this xpi (NOT REVIEWED AND NOT OFFICIAL).
It should work with 1.9.0a, maybe with 1.8, too.

Maybe it's the beta or maybe it's cause it's been awhile but I can't find My favorites for Shoutcast. Also the search doesn't work. ;)

The old favorites... maybe they are gone because of some version jumps, I can't test it :(, I have no old profile with favs...
The profile you used for testing the beta/alpha (1.8, 1.9?) is a profile you used before with shoutcast?
The search thing... does it happen in normal library, too? If so, this might be an issue of Bug 21645, which is not fixed up to now.

I'm sorry the search is working I'm just used to being able to search the whole data base not just one genre category. The favorites, I make one but where do i locate all my favorites? I can't find them. Thanks.

p.s. I'm not even sure if I have a profile with shoutcast:p
I don't think I do.

bluevast: You should see the favs as "playlist" directly under the SHOUTcast Node (Service Pane -> Radio). This "playlist" should contain all favorites, you can delete single ones through a click on the "broken heart" on the left.
(Tested and developed for 1.9.0a, what version do you use? Maybe this node is missing in 1.8?)

HINT: You can't see this node until you have added stations to the favs, use the heart -> click at it and it gets red (or something close to it), now it is in the fav list ;)

This is what happens when I click the heart:

and I'm running Songbird 1.7.3, Build 1700 (20100608172834) I checked update but none for mac. If there is a beta for mac I will test. Thanks.

... 1.7.3 can't work... you have to install at least 1.8.0b to have the new service pane, the code to access it has changed.
You can get betas and nightly builds for all platforms here

bluevast:
....oh. Another communication problem
The other heart
the one that is not visible at your mac ?!
the outer left column of every station, there should be a heart inside.
If not, try clicking the text "chrom..."

The issue I thought about (without much looking at the screenshot to be honest) is that after you have a favourite stream, you can access the list of favourite streams in the service pane (a node directly under the SHOUTcast node), and this node is unlikely to show up on 1.7.3 ;)

Haha Alright I found the right heart the fav. node doesn't show up but the heart stays colored so I can find my stations quickly. Thanks!
