Songbird slow, hiccups, unresponsive at times

I find that songbird will pause with a delay of anywhere from 2 seconds to a minute or more whenever I rate a song or switch tracks. Interestingly, when I bring up task manager, songbird will DROP from 2-4% of processor utilization to zero until it recovers. I have attempted to run songbird as high priority, but it does not seem to help at all.

Windows 7, Intel Quad Core, Songbird 1.10.2, Library of 26,000 songs.

Hi skuz Buket -

What format are your tracks? Where are they located? Does the Songbird task get labeled "Not Responding" during that time?

Thanks.

My Tracks are .mp3. They are located on a network share (connected by gigabit ethernet to my file server on a fast drive). Songbird does *not* get labeled as "not responding" during the pauses.

If you don't kill the process, does the app eventually recover? It seems like this could also be related to the known issues we have with libraries on remote servers.

Thanks, and hope that helps.

Yes, in this issue, Songbird will automatically recover after a delay. Are there any workarounds to the remote server issues, short of storing the data locally?

Unfortunately not. We have a number of open bugs for various remote server issues, but no development time to work on them. Sorry.
