Orchestral Companion Strings won't record in Pro Tools

I just got the Orchestral Companion Strings, which sounds great, but there appears to be a major issue with Pro Tools (12.7). I can play the strings fine in stop mode but once you engage play or record in Pro Tools, no MIDI goes to the instrument - obviously making it unusable. I tested it in Logic Pro and it recorded fine.

Anyone know the fix for this?

  • I bought Strings, Brass, Woodwinds and BigBang a few days ago and there are a lot of major issues. So I decided to throw them away. It ́s a easy to use and good sounding librariy but there is too much trouble:

    - BingBang 2.5 crashes immediately after hitting a Midi Note on Keyboard.
    - All of the Plugins a very, very unstable and crahs my Nuendo Projekt.
    - Strings forget to play notes.
    - Articulasions are not working properly.

I am intended to use my time for composing not for solving problems.I bought a nother library for much more money, but it is worth it!

  • Hi Michael,

    Thanks for posting.

Can you please provide me with your full system specs?

I know a similar issue has come up in the past with Wobble because of the way that ProTools sends clock data. Is this happening while looping? With reference to the Wobble issue I'd mentioned in my last sentence, the workaround was to disable looping in ProTools by using Shift+Command+L or Option+clicking the Play button that toggles loop mode in Pro Tools. Conversely, you ay also go to Options and disable Dynamic Transport.

Try that out, and let me know how it goes!

  • Thanks for replying Bill.

Well, you were right - disabling Loop Playback made it work correctly, but surely this can only be seen as a bug? No other VI requires Loop Playback to be turned off. I didn't have Dynamic Transport on.

    My complete specs are:
Mac Pro 4,1 w/16 GIG RAM
    Mac OS 10.10.5
    Pro Tools 12.7 HD
Pro Tools HD Native PCIe card

    Thanks,

    Michael

  • "Update announcements are not handled here on the forum"

Why not? Is it too difficult to write a sentence here? Or is it because there will never be available an update?

Ah, I have an idea: There are thousands of support requests on your great software and it costs too much time, to inform them all...

Oh Sonivox, You are my new favorite company!
