Today we launched a new version of Springpad, available on the web, iPhone, iPad & Android. More details: http://springpad.com/blog/2012/04/the...
Check it out at: http://springpad.com
Unfortunately, there are a handful of issues that are impacting a number of you:
1. Notebook covers are showing 0 contents
This is a temporary issue with your accounts. Even though the cover shows zero, if you open the notebooks, you will see your data.
2. Attached notes & links are not showing up
Another temporary issues. All of your attached notes are safe & sound, don't worry! But, you should know that when they show up in the new Springpad, they will be comments.
Both of these issues are due to a huge job queue over on our servers. Once we get through the queue of upgrading everyone's accounts, these things will show up. I know it's frustrating, and I think you in advance for your patience. If you really can't wait to see your attached notes, send your username to email@example.com & she'll help you out.
While I have your attention, I thought I'd also address a common question we are hearing: "Where's All My Stuff?"
Yes, the navigation has changed a bit. Here's how to get to all of your stuff in Springpad:
Web: Click on My Notebooks, then you'll see
Here, I'd click on '1531 springs' to see all my stuff & '850 unfiled' to see the stuff that's not in a notebook.
iOS and Android: Tap on the 3 little lines in the top left corner to reveal the menu of notebooks, then scroll to the bottom to choose All My Stuff.
I want to acknowledge that you guys in the SP team are making a huge effort trying to recover from this downfall, with a positive attitude as well, coping with angry / desperate / frustrated users. Hopefully we will be satisfied with the final product and we all learn a lot from this for the future.
An enhancement for Recipes, while you are fixing this issue, might be to have the Directions option already added, as what Recipe doesn`t come without directions.
In fact it might actually save time to have everything added and allow people to subtract the ones they don`t need. Though maybe a poll would help you decide which option use consistently. There may also be a couple additional options that are wanted but not available.
I mean sure, I can set it to go off 20 minutes before- but before WHAT? There's no way to set a legitimate time!
I tried to stick it out with SP because I liked the colors and user interface of the old SP, but the changes, bugs, and sheer length of the problems forced me out of the pocket. Evernote simple works and is not a facebook wanna be.
I wish the staff at SP good luck with their endeavors!
And so it goes
Just wanted to show you some love. I am loving the new Springpad and can totally see the potential. I can imagine how hard it must be to please all of the people all of the time - or even most of the people most of the time. Keep up the good work. I'm using Springpad much more than I ever did before.
A small issue on the Android app: The date picker for the reminder doesn't show the day numbers completely. I'm using an HTC One X. See screen shot.
Per email I sent to Devin who has been helping me but I could not wait anylonger.
I closed springpad on my Android phone then I went into my settings and apps on my android phone and picked springpad then deleted the data (mind you this deletes any unsynced data). After that i opened springpad and it pulled all my information from your servers again and now it is syncing.
Not really a fix but I need to use springpad for daily life and could not wait any longer.
Notes on a Board are unreadable as in the attached. Reproduce this on my laptop.
I’m curious; I’ve continued to ask primarily for one thing. In case you’ve forgotten:
a summary list of all defects, de-enhancements and priorities and progress on all.
The reason I and others want the above is because it would assist us with the following:
1. Bored of encountering issues and wondering whether to report them or not
2. Don’t know if some of the things I’m encountering are meant to have been fixed in newer versions
3. Work out when to upgrade my mobile device. For example, I’ve still got a v. 2.0 app that seems to work and I’m not moving until I’m confident that the latest version works
4. Find out when features that were removed will be returned, if ever. For me and many off-line access is a necessity
5. Determine whether Springpad will continue to be good for GTD
6. Be convinced that we, the users, fit into your long-term strategy. I like some of the new stuff, but then I liked some of the old stuff that you chose to throw away
7. Decide whether I can trust Springpad with my data, my time and my peace of mind.
Alternatively, perhaps you can tell us why you cannot supply this list?
I can't even begin with discussing the fuctionality yet, because I am too stunned on just how bad the new interface is on the phone.
Let's start with the hideous looking widget! It takes the Title bar color from the Theme and not the Accent color. I hope this is a bug and not more of this backward thinking that somehow makes sense to somebody there.
The icons! Holy cow! How freakin' awful! What the heck was wrong with the colorful Springpad icon rather than the stupid black and white impressionist rendition of the Springpad logo and images?
Now, lets go into the app. Yes, I am sure some of these have been mentioned, but I am going to go through them, because I have no way of knowing what is in the midst of being fixed, which ones are already allegedly fixed, and so on.
Notebooks - The amount of wasted space and the inability to read the title of the Notebook because you feel it is more important for the icons of those I am supposed to be sharing with is more important and the oversized (considering) space wasted to the lock and note count in simply baffling. This is the absolute opposite of "streamlining" and making things easier. It is "consistency" of user interface to the detriment of actual usability.
I get (I don't like, but I understand) using the thumbnail of an image if the item type is an image, but why would it be the icon, if the image is simply an attachment to a note? Once again, you seem to promote the idea of images over actual content, regardless of the situation. This flows nicely with what seems to be your theme of making this more Pinterest like with visual cues, but this is NOT Pinterest. Once again you seem to choose style, and pictures over actual functionality.
Go into a note and choose edit (Droid Bionic), and get a popup that says Edit and what looks like a window shrunk too small to see anything, and that is it. Only by pressing on a blank space on the note do I actually go into edit mode.
Now, I already don't like having "Comments" rather than being able to attach a note, and I don't like having the "Activity" wasting space there, but what is again bordering on "WTF" territory was the decision to put the "Activity" ABOVE the Comments pushing them down and off the screen.
Do, you really need to waste pixels on each side of a note in order to show a "background" that is barely visible, but wastes space that could otherwise be dedicated to the note?
Why do notes in gallery view continue to appear so large, even when there are no images? Yes, I know I can change it to List View, but then I get those stupid gray and white icons again.
I'm sure I will be back with more, but my eyes hurt from looking at the design choices, and my heart hurts from what you did to this once outstanding app.
I could ask a member of my team to go through all the feedback given and would expect them to make a fair stab of producing it by the end of the day. They might miss a few things but they'd get it done.
Too many excuses being given at the moment. Some simple, honest answers would be good.
Sorry, don't mean to take this out on you, but am just getting ever more annoyed.
There is no magic in the world to fix the mess in one or two days more.
Why not revert to old Springpad while you guys, with time and love develop Springpad 4 and let version 3 be a bad memory.
By the way, they are not "comments". They are notes attached to another note.
Also, my existing calendar feeds are not updating. This happens for both Public and Personal feeds.
This is a huge problem for me. Please help.
