Currently we support some markdown formatting but we do not have plans right now for full rich text.

This is the reason I'm thinking about switching to Evernote. These format options are sometimes essential to note taking.

To edit a note that is already formatted just tap to edit and confirm that you want to edit it.

To use markdown we support _italic_ *bold* and ^underline^

Hi, when I try to open a message that has rich formatting, I get the pop-up that warns that formatting might be lost, I then hit Edit, the pop-up disappears, the Note doesn't open and I'm returned back to the Notebook that contains the note.

When I paste text from another source, the formatting carries over. Is there any way to clear the formatting to plain text?

Not right now, but I see how that would be useful!

If there's no plans to support the formatting from a web-entered note on the Android version, is there at least a way to force the web app to use the markdown formatting? Every time I've tried to edit a note that had any kind of formatting from the web app, it gives me HTML, and most of the time I don't want to take any chances that I'll screw that up.

I agree with matthewcory1
Whenever I paste something, sometimes it carries over the formatting from wherever it came from.
Mostly, I'd like to be able to view the note in plain text.

I know I can put asterisks (*) around text to make it bold. Are there any similar shortcuts to change the font and formatting in Android and iOS?

The ^underline^ shortcut mentioned above doesn't seem to work on my android device.

Hello, thanks for such a great application. My problem stems from transferring my writing over from another program, then every time I attempt to use it on a Android Application, it gives me a warning "This note appears to have special formatting that may be lost if the note is edited".

I have no specially formatted anything, and do not understand why this is happening. The largest problem is when I choose to edit my note, half of it disappears, and if i choose done, instead of cancel, it's completely gone. Now this is a serious concern, because if I hadn't chosen to back up my writings, I could have lost a major part of something that is very important to me had I not know about this problem.

When I press on "Show Warnings" it says ,"The Following HTML may not be preserved in the translation:
1. style type="text/css"
2. div class="sp-opt-1:
3. font class="Apple-style-span"
face="Segoe UI', Frutiger, Tahoma, Helvetica, 'Helvetica Neue,' Arial, sans-serif" size="2"

Now this is a major deal breaker for me and this application. I'm willing to work with you, even if it's not a 'technical' fix. (meaning i'll break up my notes into smaller chunks/ or 'wash' the text with a notepad) But I need to get this application functioning correctly.

It would increase many people's productivity if it were possible to write formatted text (i.e. bold, underlined, ...) without having to leave the keyboard. Would it be possible to include the option to use textile (or markdown) formatting next to the available option of using the bold/italic/... buttons? See http://www.textism.com/tools/textile/

We like to keep small notes, such as SQL queries, code snippets, work flows etc. For visual effects and ease of formatting, I think it would be beneficial to use Markdown syntax within notebooks and items.

Adding Markdown support will really speed up making new springs. Making the interface light. Markdown is hilariously easy to learn and actually feels much better than clicking on the the buttons of the WYSIWYG editor that is seen in the web interface of Springpad. Although I don't know if this will be of great use to mobile users, but definitely will be a great plus for the web interface and definitely a big plus for the browser extensions.

Integrating markdown support shouldn't be tough.
