Individual image captions?

  • Question
  • Updated 4 years ago
Is there a way to add captions or something similar to individual images in a project? I'm building a photography site so say a portrait project has an image of a guy and I want the caption to read 'John Doe' and then the next image is of a girl and I want that caption to read 'Jane Doe', etc. My current site has examples of captions I'd like to be able to do: http://www.jaimehogge.com.

Thanks again for this as well as helping all of us non-web-geniuses!

There is no way to handle image captions with stacey without modification.
You could always make the captions a part of the image.

I made these modifications, I will soonish post a link to share the information.

Have to admit that it's not the cleanest way to do it, don't have the PHP skills that Anthony has!

A few things to remember :
1. Filenames cannot include spaces or underscores.
2. In the project.txt file use the filename as the key. You can handle it like all the other values you use?
3. In the "image-partial" you can add the keys @id and @caption, where the @id is created for me to do some javascript action with it ;-)

http://www2.studiofrontaal.nl is almost the end result of my changes.

Hope it's helpful for someone.

Greetz,

Andries

Ok, so I figured out why the '@captions' was appearing under the images. I didn't install the new 'stacey.inc.php' file!

Except now, all the styling has disappeared: http://elenajatia.com/projects/other/ What is happening? I tried deleting all the comments from the PHP file, that did not work.

Andries version of stacey.inc.php is a little out of date now.
The problem is the @Site_Root which is only supported in Stacey v1.1.
You can go through your templates and replace @Site_Root with '../' relative paths and that should fix your issue.

Thank you Anthony! That fixed it. However, I had to actually replace it with 'http://www.mysite.com' instead of '../' and the same goes for the css and js files.

I've the same problem as Jaime. I'm using Stacey v2, template2, and want to add individual caption for each image.

After replacing templates/partials/images.html & stacey.inc.php, which are downloaded from the links from above, the navigation menu order as well as the image order are so wired! They're not in reverse order according to the numberings of sub-folders at 4.projects, but other strange orders.
Could someone pls help? And the stacey.inc.php available above is for Stacey v1, which only support pages for showing images, and not supporting those with video & swf.

I realize this thread is kind of old but I wanted to add a very simple way to put captions that I stumbled upon. If you open your image in photoshop, go to file>file info and type your caption in the box labeled Description. Save image and upload! Not exactly sure how that works, but it does!

i found a very easy way to add captions. In XnView you can add IPTC captions, this then shows up under the images. see my web site for eg
www.gabrielswebb.com
look under visualisations/ exteriors

i did edit imagedata step as per Ande, and tried using Bridge as well...

@keywords doesn't work either
cheers,
