iOS 5 issues.

Upgrading to iOS 5 beta causes Stanza to crash and lose the ability to display ebooks. Uninstalling Stanza and reinstalling partially fixes the problem. You can redownload your ebooks and view them. But downloading more then one book at a time will crash Stanza. But I'm just glad I can continue to read my ebooks.

3.1.3 user here (original iPhone). The most recent update broke Stanza, my most-used iPhone app.

Reverting to previous version.

Yeah that's it. Stanza is dead to me now. I did downgrade to the previous version which solved the crashing problem but when I tried to import my 6000+ book library it choked (out of memory when I have 40GB available on my iPad?).

Time for an alternative, which is exactly what Amazon wanted. It wont be the Kindle app though.

Dear Lexcycle,

If you know what the love of reading means, you post a version of Stanza which is not only compatible with the latest iOS 5, but the older (iOS 4) operating systems as well!

Thank you very much!
Chris

Yes, and thanks for the tip about old and new versions. I tried going back in time machine for my old iPod touch 2nd gen. Now I have an iPad2 too which needs the new version. But I only had a couple of free books anyway. So, like some others, I may well be looking for another reader...

I've bought MegaReader and advise nobody spend their money with it. Reasons: It doesn't read PDFs and the EPub formatting is very poor compared to Stanza. Threw my money away.

Doesn't scroll pages forward on iOS 5, only back... :( (?!?!?) have to use the slider below the bottom toolbar to move to the next page (such an idiocy!)

This worked for me with OS 5.0 on an iPad to save books (.cbz & .cbr) that were stuck on the iPad but would not display in the Stanza pane in iTunes, so I couldn't copy them back to the computer.

open Stanza on the iPad
open settings (gear symbol)
select General
switch "Export books to iTunes" to off
switch "Export books to iTunes" to on

connect iPad to computer with USB
open iTunes
select iPad and apps tab
scroll down to open the Stanza pane

The previously invisible books should now be visible again, allowing you to drag and drop them onto the computer or use the "save to" button.

I use Stanza for conversion only and Goodreader to view my books.
