Disqus Ban From Charisma Moderator?

Hi,

I just wen to comment on Dr. Brown's article about the NFL and let him know that I agree wholeheartedly with what he said but got a message from Disqus saying that I've been banned from commenting.

The help menu says that some Moderator on the site banned me. I looked at my Disqus posts and it looks like several of them were removed in a conversation I had with an Abby.

I'd like to know why I was banned and what was inappropriate about what I said? I referenced Scripture in my comments and while i can't read the whole posts now I don't recall anything that should have resulted in a ban.

Please let me know why and whether this is temporary, permanent, or if there is anything that can be done to rectify the situation.

If I don't hear anything in a week or so, I'll just unsubscribe and will let Dr. Brown know thru other means. Don't need to have a one-way relationship where I'm not wanted.

  • Dear Royce,

The Moderator sent me this reply to why you were blocked:

"Mr. Royce E. Van Blaricome was blocked because of the caustic nature of many of his comments.  Examples include such statements as, "Still spouting off at the mouth while walking in the Flesh.  You've got a real problem lady;" "Apparently you need to drop your faux omniscience;" "Got anymore little fiery darts ya'd like to toss out, Jezebel?"

"Statements such as these and others which attack or accuse other posters are unacceptable.  The comments section is provided as a venue for responding to an article or the content of a previous comment, not for criticizing another person's character or motives."

  • Hi Mervin,

Thank you for getting back to me. Yes, I said all those things. I also have said, "You son of disobedience, child of wrath, you are of your father, Satan, you are a Liar and of your father, you're a viper, etc." And all of them were true and right in line with many of the things Jesus said.

I'd appreciate it if you'd pass those comments on to him as well as informing him that I"m quite puzzled by why he would ban me for those comments while continuing to allow the God-hating trolls to a Christian site to continue to spew there filth.

Now, that said, am I banned from just Charisma or from Disqus altogether?

    God Bless,

    Royce

  • Dear Royce,

First, if there are comments that you think are inappropriate and should be removed, you may send an email with details to webmaster@charismamedia.com.  The email will be forwarded to the Moderator for his review.  Be sure to specify which article the comments are posted on, as well as the name of the poster.

Second, before the block on your account is removed, the Moderator asks for some assurance that you will refrain from posting the types of comments he specified in his initial reply to you.

    Thanks,

    Mervin

  • Hi Merv,

Thanks again for the reply! I understand. I have recently learned that there is a new tactic afoot by many who troll Christian sites to goad one into making a comment that they can then "report" and result in a ban. This happened to a couple of folks on Facebook and in one instance all that was saying is that there is coming a day when the laughing and mocking of God and His followers will stop. Evidently that was seen by FB as a "threat".

So, while I can't guarantee that nothing I ever say in the future will be perceived as "caustic", what I can guarantee is that I will make a more concerted effort to be careful with what I say and that I will be much more proactive in reporting the flaming comments of the trolls who are simply on the site to harangue and harass and not engage in rational discussion.

I guess I'm curious as to whether that Moderator would see "You are just like the wicked generation of vipers that Jesus talked about" or "You are a son of disobedience and child of wrath who has Satan as your father according to Ephesians 2" as "caustic"?

    God Bless,

    Royce

  • Thank you, Mervin. I appreciate all the time and effort you put into this. Truly do. Ironically, I had sent Dr. Brown a message letting him know what the moderator at Charisma had done as well.

    We live in arduous times.

  • Hi Mervin,

It's me again. I just went to post a comment on lifesitenews.com and am getting a notice that I've been banned across multiple sites with Disqus. I thought this was cleared up but it appears not. Here's what I wanted to post:

"How many think this is an accident? Read Eph. 2! This is no accident. The Ellen Degenerate show is a Devil's Den. So this doesn't surprise me at all. It's just part of the continued indoctrination and moral decay we're seeing.

What is a surprise to me is the number of folks, mostly women, who profess to be Christian, "just love Ellen", and watch her show on a regular basis. Not exactly the "renewing your mind" that God advises in Romans 12:1-2. In fact, IF they're a Christian, which is highly doubtful, they must be ignoring the Spirit and grieving Him terribly.

Why go into the Devil's Den and what do you expect to take out of it?"

Can you let me know what's going on?

    God Bless,

    Royce

  • Dear Royce,

A ban across multiple sites would be an issue that would have to be resolved by Disqus.  I believe the login address is https://disqus.com/profile/login/.
