SINGLE MOM WINS ANGEL TREE’S HIGHEST HONOR

SINGLE MOM WINS ANGEL TREE’S HIGHEST HONOR

Tustin resident, Rita Viselli, president and founder of The Single Moms’ Ministry® has been awarded the Angel Tree® Star of Victory Award. This award is presented annually to recognize the courage and accomplishments of a person who has overcome the adversity of a parent’s incarceration. In 2012, this award was granted to Miss America, Laura Kaeppeler.

As a young girl, Viselli’s father was incarcerated numerous times and eventually abandoned his family. Viselli’s mother struggled to raise her five children alone, and consequently Viselli and her siblings were moved in and out of the foster care system several times throughout her youth. She turned to drugs to cope with her troublesome past.

21 years ago, Viselli turned her life over to the will of God, and has been drug-free and improving her life every day since. As she grew in her faith, she realized God was calling her to minister specifically to single moms and fatherless children. 13 years ago she started The Single Moms’ Ministry®, while raising her daughter alone and working a full time job as an accountant.

Today, her ministry continues to grow, and through her efforts numerous churches have begun to see the great need for ministry to single mothers and their children. She has started her ministry in 5 cities (3 states) and Kenya, Africa.
