What's Wrong With the American Church?

What is the number one growing threat to America?

One might say national security, others the economy, and still others would differ and say religious liberty. All of course are correct, but the underlining concern for America is, a lack of understanding for our Judaeo-Christian Faith.

If we were to poll church attendee's, we would get mixed answers to why America is in decline. America is in decline, not so much because of politicians although they bare some responsibility, but because we have turned our backs on the one true God (Jehovah). Most American Christians claim they have a basic knowledge of the Christian faith, but cannot give adequate answers for the faith they have. We have become lazy in our faith and, because of that we are losing generations to the world. Romans 1:25 tells us "turned the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature, forsaking the Creator which is blessed forever." We have allowed the world's influences to come into our worship centers and placed God in the far back corner hoping that He knows His place.

Another issue that has plagued the church is our lack of knowledge. We get our Sunday best on, make our way to the sanctuary for the best possible seat in the house, we socialize with others about sports, politics, or just gossip about other brothers or sisters in Christ. We hear a message from our Pastor and forget about it once we get outside. We have completely forgotten what the first century Christians told us about studying the Word for ourselves. While millions around the world have little or no passages of Scripture in their language we, have two to six Bibles collecting dust on our shelves. Proverbs 22:6 says “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” This passage has been taught time and time again but the original translation “he will not depart from it.” actually translates “it will not depart from him.” When we take the time to teach our children his ways, what we know from Scripture is that the truth shall be rooted in their hearts that when times become challenging they will have somewhere to turn. It will come natural to stand up for the things of God and resist the things that are ungodly.

The most precious thing next to the blood of Christ which we have received is the Word of God. We have access to it on our phones, computers, and tablets and though these are great tools we choose to just hear a message from the pulpit, radio, or TV and just take their word for it. We have become lazy Christians, and after a close examination you can find all 7 churches found in Revelation alive today in America.

Its time for Christians in America to measure everything next to Scripture. To many today base everything they hear, or do on feelings, and though feelings mean something, if measured against Scripture, Scripture trumps everything. God's Word never changes, His Word and His ways remain the same. We know, and must start believing, and teaching that Christianity is different, Christ is the only way to the Father and as exclusive as Christianity is, everyone is invited. We must be engaged in the fight, but know that "we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Eph. 6:12.

When we get this taken care of in our lives, then we may see changes in this nation, however we could be in a time of bondage like Daniel. Either way, we must stray true to God. No matter the cost, we must remain faithful to God and his Word.
