Streamified causing Chrome to load too slowly.

Sorry Zane, I had to disable the new streamified extension on Chrome, because it just choked up my computer and some sites (like gmail) weren't loading. As soon as I disabled it Chrome started loading at normal speed again. I like the concept, but just wasn't working.

Hello -- could you check what version of the extension you (had) installed? There was an issue with the version ending in .25 that caused exactly what you are talking about after a day or two of use. I've been running .26 on Canary for 3 days straight without and troubles now, though.

It was the .26 version, and it was within a few hours of installation.

Okay, we saw this crop up with some other users as well and made some tweaks. We're now at version .32; hopefully it will work better for you (let me know!)

Nope. :(
I upgraded to 1.17.32, but apart from my home page, I gave up loading any other webpage after 3 minutes (I was timing it). The little thingie at the bottom of the window said "waiting for extension streamified". I tried 4 different sites, gmail. facebook, a wordpress blog and another site.
Once I disabled the extension pages were loading in under 7 seconds (as per normal).

Did it *ever* successfully get past the "Waiting for Streamified" message?

It sounds like it cannot connect to our servers. Here's what's happening: it needs to connect once, to know what to do in case the page is a Google Plus page. It will only connect once every 24h though, so once it connects the first time, everything else should be fast afterwards.

The page it is trying to connect to is: https://sgpl.us/browser/extension/lib...

My best guess is that something was preventing the extension from loading that URL (firewall, other extension, browser setting, etc.) and so it got stuck.

Only once the first time I loaded it. (the version .26). The very next time I started Chrome was when I started having problems.

What do you suggest I do to solve this? I seem to have no problems opening the whitelist page directly by clicking the link. But when I try clicking the same link with streamified enabled it doesn't load.

Hm. I've made a few more tweaks to hopefully try to help this a bit (you should now have version .33). Let me know if they have any impact. If not, we'll have to try something else.

Thanks for letting us know; this is something we're continuing to address. We're in the middle of updating the extension and will continue to work towards solving this issue. Can you give us more information about when it stalls Chrome for you? Are you on Google+? Other pages? How long have you had the browser and/or tab(s) open?

When I log into G+, I can sit there waiting for it to load for anything up to 2-3 minutes. It then effects pretty much every site I go on.

It's biggest effect is it kills anything with Flash player. If you load a site with flash, it freezers and chrone snaps.

I'm using Chrome 21.0.1180.75 if thats any help

Dan,

Sorry, I didn't realize you were still having this problem.
Can you check what version of Streamified you have? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the extension recently? We had a big update a couple months ago.

Part of the challenge here is that we are not experiencing the symptoms that you describe. In fact, Streamified should not even be loading on websites other than Google Plus, etc. So, if a reinstall does not fix the issue, I'm going to ask that you open your javascript console on Google Plus and have a look.

To do so, in chrome, just press the wrench icon -> tools -> javascript console. Then paste the contents here or in an email to me @ Zane@Streamified.com
