Gets stale quick. Only see stuff from about 3-4 people I follow, not a larger grouping.

Would be nice if when I clicked on a thumbnail it opened in a new tab, but this may just be personal preference.

We should be able to sort them by date and topic, giving users the option to catch up on friends' older stuff, start with the new, or browse by topic.

The thumbnails still feel too large, especially in instances with low resolution graphics (rage comics and the like), which are almost headache-inducing to look at.

If something sucks, we should be able to delete the thumbnail/stumble from the area and it be replaced with something else. Most of us are following at least 100 people... why do I only see 3 faces? Why are their stumbles weeks old? Nothing recent about that. :)

Best regards,
Nick Cobb

shhh, it's not public yet! folks might get jealous :D

we don't have all the recommendation technology properly hooked into it yet (kinda faking it at the moment), but when it's fully up, you shouldn't see things more than a day or two old, and from a wider variety of people.

the other points are legit (and I definitely agree as regards opening things in new tabs), and I'll pass them along.

This must be on the old version, right?
I follow lots of people, but I try to focus on following active people. People just aren't as active as they used to be, I think.
To see more of my friends' older stuff, I can just visit their page.
To browse by topic you can click on any of the topics and see websites around that topic.
I like that the Recent Activity is just a snapshot of what's happening now.

This has been requested for the new version as well: https://getsatisfaction.com/stumbleup...

In addition to all the things Nick suggested (especially the option to scroll/browse more than the 9 things chosen for us), there needs to be an option to see the comments written by friends. More often than not, what someone says about a page is more interesting than the mere fact that they thumbed it up, and will inspire me to visit pages I wouldn't have clicked through to otherwise.

What happened?? The new logged-in homepage has disappeared. As has the labs link.

Ok. Tried it out and agree with all of Nick's suggestion.
Co-sign on big giant thumbnails - dislike.
Also want to remove stuff that I dont like - like bad thumbnail choices for one.
Would also be nice if it was actually recent.
Also want the option to see comments as well. And have it switch between seeing likes and/or comments like before.

Totally agree with the comments addition. There are a good deal of stumbles that have absolutely nothing to do with imagery. People do read! Would be nice to see what our friends are saying about their stumbles, especially those which are not visual. Politics for instance... excerpt / comments would serve us better than a thumbnail in most cases.

I definitely like being able to see what my friends have stumbled recently but my biggest complaint has more to do with design than anything else. For me, the page is a bit of an assault on the eyeballs. Everything merges together and there's no clear graphic connection between the post that got stumbled and the person who stumbled it. I think it would be much better with some judicious use of white space, which would make it much easier to read.

Other things: I also wondered why, when I'm following a good number of people, more than one shared item was shown from two different people. Even when I refreshed the page several times, it seemed to default to two particular friends a lot. I would also like to see an option that would let me choose to view recent content stumbled by friends within a certain interest.

Hey Guys,

As it's an experimental 'Labs' feature, we're still working out many of the kinks in the Recent Activity display; while it's still under development, the content may be a little less recent or varied than you'd usually expect, and as folks have already reported, you may see multiple stumbles from the same users, or stumbles that are obviously too old for a 'recent activity' display.

Please check back regularly, as we'll be fine-tuning it over the course of the next few weeks.

I think that having a "NEXT" tab at the bottom that give you more recent activity would be nice. I agree that the thumbnails should be smaller and more clearly defined...aka larger margins between (maybe in a color besides white).

On another note, I didn't like the frames you were using when you first launched the updates. It appears you have gotten rid of them...thanks.

Under Your Friends' Recent Activity, the name shown for the friend is only the first word, and not the username, which results in some strange things when the person is using more than one word for a name:

It would be far less confusing, not to mention less odd, to use the full name.

I like Your Friends' Recent Activity. It makes sense that if I'm really following my friends, I would like things that they like. I'm enjoying this part more than the Top Content in your Interests feature.

I agree that the name at the bottom should be the username, not the first word in the name of the person who stumbled an item. That's confusing.

Hi all, sorry for the removed replies. We promise we aren't censoring -- we got attacked by a spammer over the weekend and had to remove them. Thanks and keep letting us know your thoughts and ideas!

In the Top Content in Your Interests section especially, I would like to have a way in the Home Page view to say "not for me." Over and over, I have seen things on that page that don't interest me, and then a few clicks of the stumble button later, they show up in my stumbles, leaving me thinking, "But I already know I'm not interested in that page." Being able to say so in the Home Page view without having to click through to the page itself would seem to be helpful to the algorithm in addition to avoiding user irritation at stumbling things we've already said "meh" to.

What Nick said earlier... make those thumbnails clickable so that I can open the link in a new tab. Currently I'm clicking on the stumbler and going to their profile to see "what's new". Turns out what's on my recent activity page isn't always the most recent. But at least I'm able to visit stumbler pages and pick up the links from there.

The adult filters aren't working. I know this for sure. I know someone that has the filters set to not show adult content on his blog, yet adult pages thumbed up by this person are showing up in this feature. In my opinion, this is a serious privacy issue, unless someone corrects me if I'm wrong.

that's entirely possible, and I agree, a serious issue if true. I will pass this along to the engineers responsible for it.

After using this for a while I realize I'd like to have the option to see my friends' activity BY interest - so for instance if I want to see what my friends are stumbling ONLY in travel or photography.

This morning I'm only seeing "Top Content in Your Interests" on this page, with nothing from the people or channels I am following. What a disappointment!

I must say, the Top Content is my least favorite part of this page, because generally I'm not interested in what is being thumbed up by huge numbers of people, I'm interested in the odd, eccentric sites that the masses of bored people aren't going to be thumbing up, either because they require actually reading something and thinking about it, or because they're highly specialized in some way.

I tend to follow people who are thumbing up pages of the latter sort that are of particular interest to me, and unfollow people who are thumbing up only pages of the former sort. In fact, I wouldn't mind if the Top Content section of this page went away altogether, so I could see more pages from the stumblers and channels I am following. I certainly hope that seeing only Top Content is a very temporary thing.

If the people I am following haven't been active in the past 8-12 hours, then show me older content. I would rather see pages thumbed up by stumblers I am following that are years old, than the things I am seeing as "top content."

Also, I've noticed that Top Content in Your Interests generally lists the pages I will stumble next. So seeing my entire Home page filled with sites that are of no interest to me definitely discourages me from stumbling.

Hey Guys,

We've taken the Friends' Activity feed out of rotation temporarily while we do some maintenance and revision on it.. it wasn't providing the level of quality we desired, and using a lot of system resources to do it.

It's under very active development as we speak, so expect to see it back sometime soon.

Top Content in Your Interests is showing me a review by a stumbler whose account has been deleted, and thus the link is to a page that no longer exists:

http://www.stumbleupon.com/stumbler/m...

Shouldn't deleted stumbler accounts be removed from circulation upon deletion?

Is recent activity from our friends going to return any time soon soon? Please don't say that we're stuck with the very unappealing (for the reasons given above) Top Content in Your Interests.

I second what Gladsdotter just said. I really miss the continuous feed: 'recent activity from our friends/connections'. It is what I miss the most on Stumbleupon.

Every other site I belong to (several) has a 'recent activity from friends/subscribers' feed, which is what I look forward to reading. If there is a Top Content Site to see, it's on a separate page.

Hey Guys,

Recent activity should be back soon - we're working on a few more improvements before we add it back to the labs page.
