This would make life so much easier! I could stumble around my parents house or between classes without worrying about someone looking over my shoulder. Also, it would be nice if you could add topics you choose to the sfw category. In some instances we may want to sensor more than just nudity, but politics, drug references and any interests the user may just be embarrassed by.

At the very least being able to switch off x and r rated content temporarily would be a great start.

I love being an x-rated stumbler but I float around on my laptop a lot. I think it would be awesome if there was a Safe-For-Work toggle. That way I can avoid porn when I'm out in public without having to change all my settings.

It would be nice if there were an on/off toggle for Adult content... not a filter by category, but just a switch to turn the stuff off that's not appropriate when kids are around.

It would be awesome if users that allow r rated and adult content could have a checkbox option to stumble only safe for work things until they uncheck it.

Long way to go! Show Sent Shares has 393 votes and is 8 months old and is only classed as "Planned" This would be a nicety, but don't look at porn at work or school vs a usable and more requested feature??????????????

Prioritizing features is based on a combination of number of requests and overall impact on the entire community. The ability to turn off adult content while stumbling at work or school may encourage users to stumble more and use StumbleUpon more often, leading to growth. Growth is what we need, in order to be able to hire more engineers and work on all the feature requests our users want.

Fair enough Monica, why even ask for votes then? I think this is a good idea and you guys do too or it wouldn't have even been suggested. I know there have been threads about this in the cores in the past, eh just slap it up so we can get on over to doing the things the loyal old school stumblers want, like showing sent shares...

I am sad to hear you are falling short on engineers atm :( I hope the ones you have pick up some slack... that is what you do when times are tough guys, pick up slack.

10million users, #2 for driving traffic (in social media) and still struggling to staff? If you ask me (which nobody did, lol) it might be time to take a look at who has there fingers in the cookie jar and who is pulling their weight. I will shut up now lol ♥

i want this too, voted :)
though instead of a button, it would probably be better if it was a checkbox, somewhere in the settings window of the toolbar

Just a note that, although it would be easier to add such a button to the toolbar (because the functionality already exists), it would be *better* implemented as a button in the stumbler's profile section.

I think this because not everyone can install the toolbar on their work computer.

You all wouldn't need more engineers if you didn't have daily change-of-direction meetings: Keeping abreast of new innovative technology that has yet to be widely accepted (and SU's demographics are that most users are not only older than SU staff and developers but also well past the trend-chasing, must have the latest technology stage). What we have works, except when it is sabotaged by SU's own engineers who remove functionality while chasing "growth" in a demographic area that has no "metrics" to substantiate that "growth" will occur in that area. At the same time as it alienates older users (users who have been on SU longer), who not only would recommend SU by word of mouth but would ground new users who want to share sites with people they already know, or want to know.

IMO the button should not be on the toolbar itself, but on it's options window (and it would make more sense if it was a checkbox instead of a button), i have nothing against it changing a setting in the profiles page under the hood though

How about a work setting where I can put in the hours I work so X-rated sites and all other NSFW stumbles will be filtered out within that time-slot.

Don't count me as a vote. I'm just following this thread. When I'm at work,I work. I'm there to make money, not stumble. If I went to school I'd be there to learn, not stumble. Makes no sense to me. But then again,I'm one of the many older loyal users. One who gets friends and family to join thru "word of mouth."

You throw around the phrase "older loyal users" like someone who would suggest a SFW button must not be. I have been a member since 2006 and have gotten many people to join. And what about when you around friends or family, or around children, who do not need or want to see some of the things that might come up on the computer screen when i hit the stumble button?

I'm with ledeakin, I've also been a "loyal user" since 2006 and have have got atleast 10 of my friend stumbling. There are plenty of work/school situations where you could be stumbling, or if that doesn't make sense, then think about any situation where you would be on a computer and have other people around? Internet cafe? laptop in public?

I've been here since 2006 too, and have gotten most of my family, friends, and contacts using stumble. Apparently you don't have children, or you wouldn't be saying things like that.

Some of us like the option of x rated material, just not during the daylight hours.

I said don't count me as a vote, because I'm just following this thread. I commented as indifferent because I don't care..I stated myself as an old loyal user because I don't stumble anymore. When SU changed in December,I left. I only use it now to check in with friends and message. When I *used* to stumble I had my filter set to block X-rated content. From my personal exerpience SU doesn't care what I want and has never changed anything I wanted fixed or changed. I just gave up and left. I'm only following this thread because it comes to my email. Then I can see if anything has changed. At this point you can just call me a disinterested onlooker then.

As a self proclaimed disinterested onlooker and someone who is indifferent to the outcome of this feature request, you have to understand why people find it odd that you felt the need to comment and profess your indifference.

If you did this because you were unsure how to follow this thread and wanted to even though you don't care about it at all you could have done so quietly with the little "Follow" tab up in the right hand corner, just for future reference in case you were unaware that it was possible.

As amusing as this whole off topic discussion has been, what really matters are votes for this feature.

You can stop getting emails if you stop following the thread. You can stop getting all emails about Stumbleupon by changing the settings in your profile.

Unless you want to come to GetSatisfaction and tell people how unconcerned you are about a service you left in December. Personally, I don't see how it's productive.

"I'm only following this thread because it comes to my email. Then I can see if anything has changed." As stated in my post above.

I know how to change my settings. That's why I just started following this thread. I want emails to see if anything has changed. We all use Stumble and GS differently. What you don't see as productive,I do.

One can always hope. Since I used to love SU so much, all that is left for me now is hope. I know that isn't personal to you,but it is to me.

I'm amused by the concept that one can "leave" a site. It's an interface you interact with that gives you capabilities you can enjoy using or not. It's like saying you will "leave" a restaurant by not going there anymore.

For a former-stumbler as "unconcerned" as you, you spent more time than most apathetic folks checking comments and replying.

What a stick-in-the-mud.

While I'm all for expressions of loyalty mixed with regret at the changes V4 introduced to the SU interface, I don't think this idea has anything to do with that.

It's an old idea for which solutions were in place in V1, V2 and V3. These were either third-party scripts or unofficial.

What I'm glad about is that GS provides us with an ability to express support for this idea, which had been requested by many in the past, and now has staff suggesting a method for this request to be implemented officially.

I've used SU for work and study. The current discovery-based interface is more conducive for that purpose -- more content discovery rather than chitchat. Those who value this approach would really enjoy a capability to quickly filter out content that might make our co-workers blush, without having to go to the settings page to do so.

I vote yeah.

Sometimes I'm in a public place and I don't want to have to go in and undo all the topics that may be not safe for public content. Though later I'm in a private place where it is okay to view suggestive content or humor. It would be handy to have a button on the toolbar that I can press when I do or don't want safe content instead of having to change my topics every time! Thanks!

An enhancement I'd really like to see is if there was a way, for adult accounts, to turn a filter on and off. For example, when I'm at work and I'm stumbling, and all of a sudden my web page is filled with tits and dick, it doesn't look too good on me if someone just happens to be looking at my screen. So if there was a button on the toolbar to temporarily disable adult content from popping up on the screen, I know that I'd much appreciate it. Thanks!

I'd like to see a quick button on the stumble toolbar to deactivate adult content without having to go into settings. Basically just a button that turns it off until it's pressed again. It would be helpful during the day when my kids are home, there's just too much popping up when they are here.

I don't use StumbleUpon at work anymore (I used to on breaks, but now the company firewall blocks me)! But I too, would like to see this feature put into place, if only because I try to keep my own StumbleUpon page PG to PG-13 but do occasionally like to gaze at the female form in all it's glory.

this would be a great feature, especial for those of of use who own laptops and take them around with us, would also be nice when showing people what stumble is and how it works
