coping with unpleasant advertisements

Are you behind the recent emergence of advertisement which cannot be thumbed down? Are you aware of how obnoxious this is? In the past week I have run across 3 stumbles which I immediately pressed thumbs down only to find a message on my screen that said that I could not choose the thumbs down option. I was instructed that I could only choose the option of stumbling onward without the ability to influence the content. As I write this I realize how inconsistent this is with your previous position that you are giving power to the stumbler. The last page that I encountered, required 3 clicks of the "red X" in the upper right corner of the Windows page. I had to click 3 times just to get back to a Stumbleupon page. This misuse of the recommendation engine was really bad. Please do everything possible to prevent this from happening.

Thank you for reporting this issue, William. It's definitely unusual for you to be unable to thumb-down a sponsored stumble, so we apologize for the inconvenience. What was the message that you were running into when you tried to thumb it down? Also, what's your username? If you could provide the URLs for when this error occurred, a screenshot of the error, or any other details that would help us identify what you experienced, that would be appreciated. Please let us know if you continue to run into this issue.

Hi Cyrus, Thank you for your reply! Its been probably a month ago so I haven't kept easy records of the URL. I stopped using StumbleUpon for some time. I started again a week ago. So far I haven't had any problems. In the future, I will record the information regarding the offending experiences. my user name is: toldyouilearneda
