I want more than just 127 interests to be added. I've many more interests than just 127 and I really browse the web for knowledge.

I totally agree! - Like you i LOVE using stumbleupon to browse for knowledge.

I know there are technical reasons for this, but also know that it's not that hard to fix.

Furthermore it would be nice to have the ability to set 'weights' on selected topics. Like with a star-system, but could also be categories like 'main intrests' and 'other intrests'.

Main intrests could be limited, if there were a separate category for other intrests.

I would really appreciate if my main intrests was listed separatly from my other intrests.

In fact, if we have a "select all" choice. I'll definitely choose it :d.

Yeah been wishing for that ever since I started using SU...
I don't think there is anything I don't have an interest in...
Not sure why this needs to be limited...

That 127 limit is a mystical one imposed by the wizards in our engineering team! It does have purpose - primarily to ensure the quality of your stumbles, but there is a way to effectively extend this:

Step 1. Visit any tag page - like this one: http://www.stumbleupon.com/discover/c...
Step 2. Hit the Subscribe button!
Step 3. There is no step 3.

Sites tagged like this will now be included into your Stumbles!

Hope this helps!

This doesn't really help what I am asking for. Like when you go to manage topics I want to be able to check off as much as I want to. It won't let me check off more than 127.

if that workaround works so well, could you please incorporate that into the topics selection thingy so we can mark a tag there and it will do those steps automaticly ?

The tags you subscribe to do show up on your Manage Interests page, where you can click through to their pages. But the list of potential tags is infinite--every possible combination of every word in every language--and only you know what specific items you are interested in.

Isn't there a way to see which tags are already being used?

Also, could the system automaticly tag pages based on the topic they are filled under?

They number in the millions. Some of the top stumblers use 100,000 or more tags each. You can see the tags used by any particular stumbler by clicking on the word "tags" on a person's page.

The system does automatically tag pages based on the topic they are filed under, as is explained in SU's help pages: http://www.stumbleupon.com/help/What_....

"StumbleUpon has temporarily run out of sites relevant to you. Please sign up for more topics."

But when i click on any unmarked checkbox:

"You cannot select more than 127 topics."

...

I asked before and i'll ask again, if we can't select more topics but selecting tags works just the same, please give us an organized way to add and remove tags like with the topics, at least for the tags corresponding to existing topics

Why only 127 topics??? Seems a silly limitation. Does the mind only allow 127 topics of interest?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Why only 127 topics???.

There's really 128 if you count zero. So that makes it a multiple of the hexadecimal 0-F (16) 16,32,64,128,512,etc. So it must have something to do with a programming limit of only 128 different selections. That's my guess.
