This is the error message I get on a regular basis:

This page can't be shared. Stumble again to find something new.

This pretty much renders the Stumbleupon bar useless.

I am using the latest Chrome Extension.

It is very irritating and has been like this for a few months now.

When will this bug be fixed?

Hey Mike,

Are the pages that you are sharing ones which you have already 'liked'?

We do have an issue right now that has resulted in one only being able to share pages that are already in our system, rather than sharing a 'new page' to someone else, who then effectively adds it to StumbleUpon when the 'like it'.

No, I don't want to like these pages, they are just things I want to use the SU bar to share with a friend.

This was never an issue with the old version of the SU bar which worked perfectly. This new bar is, quite frankly, rubbish. It doesn't work and the way the shares are listed is also counterintuitive and presented badly.

Thanks for the clarification, Mike.

Sharing is - essentially - about sharing 'stumbled pages' - and, whilst this limitation wasn't intentional (and may be changed) - it does prevent people from 'spamming' content into our system via the share process.

'Liking' a page before sharing it shows provides an audit trail, and - frankly - assigns accountability. If you like a page that much that you want to share it with other stumblers, popping it into our system before you share it further doesn't seem unreasonable to me - and I speak as a long-term stumbler (2003) - in this respect.

Re: "the way the shares are listed is also counterintuitive and presented badly."

Care to elaborate on this? The way in which we display shares sent/received/all is essentially unchanged since it's introduction, but we always welcome insight into why this may not work well for you, and what, in your view, would be a better presentation.

Hey Mike,

FWIW, you can still share pages without liking them via the Firefox toolbar.

I use Chrome. Know of anything that will work on that?

I've escalated this to our chrome engineering team and a fix is in progress, but in the meantime you'll have to either rate the urls before sharing them, or use Firefox to share unrated urls.

I am getting this error too. But it also doesn't allow me to discover the page I am trying to share either. I tried discovering first and it said the page "did not exist", so i just tried sharing it, and i get this error.
