Actually there is one positive thing to say about the new SU. It's positively horrible, disgusting,an unsocial social network, and pretty much screwed unless The SU staff gett their heads out of their collective asses, and fix this mess before you all wind up in a soup kitchen. Notice I threatened no one, reason being you aren't worth my sweat

I've has some time to think about all that's transpired thus far...the horror of it all.

And I've concluded that SU is performing ritual suicide before our very eyes.

We're witnessing, in all of its gruesome glory, the final death throes of something that use to be great.

Remember...they all said John Wayne could never die...until he did.

I'm done with trying to figure out the new version. The old one was way more user friendly and intuitive, despite the new picture-topic format. And you've completely eliminated the video by topic ability. You guys should take heed of the reviews your getting and admit you made a mistake. We all do from time to time so suck it up and roll back to the old version. Unless you do, we will all be using the next successor to SU sometime in the near future...

What do I think of the new su First I will not capitalize the initials Simply because they do not deserve it. As for what I think of the new su I will tell you though I doubt you corporates ass kissers will let it be seen. The new su should be renamed to S.O.S. for Sack of Shit!! It is amazing that su hasn't been spread on someones gardens and lawns. I know it would be a big hit in the farming community where I once lived.
I have said this before and I will say it again. I will dive bomb the unfollow button on anyone who spams me. I know who I can trust, but I wonder if the other stumblers do? Food for thought.

I started on SU 02/08/2011 then on 10/24/2011 SU became su

Simply stated you ass holes running su make me sick!!!

I spent over an hour going through the new interests lists, then found out none of the changes I made actually worked. . .

You wasted my time with your ridiculous changes, StumbleUpon. The pictures can be awkward and even offensive, suggesting gross generalizations; they aren't necessary, they don't make things more interesting, they make things more slow and clunky. The new icon is a huge downgrade from the original, which I thought was pleasant and clever. A bright red dot with a tiny white scribble in the middle, always sitting there on my browser. I keep thinking an error symbol has popped up. Reminds me of Opera's horrible logo. "It catches their attention!" stop it. Make things that have genuine, bottom-up value. Not just things that fit cleanly into your little model of reality.

I'm done with SU for now. Going to try one of the similar services. Never wanted to before, never thought about it much. StumbleUpon had always been enough. It's not so big a deal, (because if you dig your way to the help page you can fix things by "downgrading" back to the original functioning layout), but I'd just rather have something else; it feels like my browsing experience is a little bit broken now. No reason to keep it. Bye! *mutters something about the peter principle*

Update: Now I can't even log in. I've reset the password, twice. Nothing. . . So even if I wanted to I couldn't keep using this. . .

Hi there Zaumaum,

Sorry to hear about some of the issues you've run into re: log in and updating your interests. We'd love to help you out and figure out the root cause of the problem.

Because the log in issue deals with personal account info, would you write in to http://www.stumbleupon.com/feedback and we'll handle it 1:1?

Also I see that you are subscribed to 127 interests as of today, which is our max limit for Interests. Is that the number you were subscribed to before you updated recently?

Let us know!

And thank you for your input on the pictures, logo, etc. It is being read and acknowledged by our team.

I am not even sure why we were "asked"
feedback is a compound word...feed...and back.

We can feed all we want, not too sure there will be any "back"

I don't think that makes sense. . . The "feed" is "back", to them. . .

A lot of these posts don't help their cause much, I think. . .

Hi there,

We are listening and 100% taking into account what users say. It might not materialize itself exactly how one envisions it would, but we promise we are working hard behind the scenes. Releasing new requests takes a lot of time and we want to get it right! Thanks for your patience and understanding and please keep sending us your thoughts - especially those with which there are actionable items to work on.

HA! You folks still don't get it. I guess you feel like you have to keep reinventing SU just to have a job. But....you probably need to start looking for one anyway because this very thread is alerting a lot of us to the fact that there are good, viable alternatives to SU, like Tumblr. And so it goes....Sad to watch a sinking ship....but sort of fascinating as well. SU would make a good case study for a business school class...on how to get your head out of your ass and listen to your users.....

I used to find so much good activist and educational stuff on stumbleupon. Come to think about it, I've learned a lot through it and I haven't even taken advantage of the social features that apparently are now dead. Life-changing, is the word. StumbleUpon helped me find things that changed my life. I don't understand why this would be done. It seems like sabotage of something that worked very well. It makes no sense. . .

Blech - SU is now awful, so it forced me to go take a hard look at Tumblr and really begin using it. I like it a lot. I am starting to use over SU and Tumblr will replace the SU badge on my blog.

I've gone back to SU once a week to see if it still is a mess... and it is. The images they offer and the way they are laid out are horrible -- they should look at the Del-ic-ious new interface ... very nice ... kinda looks like the old SU.

I think I should vote SU for Webpages That Suc% (I don't think they really know of this site) otherwise the "remodel" wouldn't include such "mystery meat" navigation.

And why is Stumbleupon attempting to control the entire first pages of search when you put in 'stumbleupon sucks'? Is Google aware of this?

Since they improved their messaging, Tumblr is *vastly* better than Stumbleupon these days and improving all the time. In fact its about where Stumbleupon was a couple of years ago before they started the process of ruining it. Once you get into Tumblr its far more vibrant and lively than Stumbleupon which is, frankly, totally and utterly dead these days. A great many of the previously most active Stumblers I knew have now switched to Tumblr and its a good option for anyone who is being driven out of Stumbleupon by the user-hostile direction its taken. Categorian is pretty good too but it has less users than Tumblr at present.

I feel like StumbleUpon doesn't value me at all anymore. I'm sure a lot of users feel this way. I feel like they want me to just give up and leave.

Before when I discovered a cool websites, hundreds (sometimes thousands) of people would see it, like it and sometimes message me to tell me they liked it or follow me so they could see more of the cool stuff I find.

Now when I discover a really cool website, it gets 1 view my view. How are people even getting fresh content in their buttons? Is it just all ads now? I am not the only one who is experiencing this and wondering this. In fact, I don't know anyone who isn't experiencing this. It started the SAME DAY the "new SU" option was plastered across the top of my screen, coincidence?

Couldn't agree more. I don't bother to add anything to my pages anymore - a waste of time - nobody sees it.
As long as the toolbar is working, I can share my finds and blogs which are elsewhere with friends. That is the only reason to stay on SU.

Even I didn't expect ALL good new content to disappear overnight when SU flipped off the best users, but that's exactly what happened. The Stumbletron was never the best part of SU or even the draw for most quality users, but now it's a drab wasteland of old retreads that even newcomers must have seen a million times. It's no longer a "discovery engine." It's an insult to the intelligence.

Why would anyone aside from people looking for hits for their own Website want to be part of SU anymore? (These are the only Stumblers left, it seems.) Why would I (or anyone) want to reward the system with worthwhile new content when the revised New StumbleUpon is dedicated to taking away all the fun and all incentive for doing so?

Answer: I wouldn't, and no one else seems to want to either.

What do I think of the new su? Does it really matter at all? You people (and I use that term loosely) have no intention of making any improvements that are worth a damn. Just like an earlier poster said watching su is like watching a sinking ship.
I am sure everyone has heard the saying Rome wasn't built in a day. Well I suppose that's true. However SU wasn't built in a day either. It took many years 10 I think o go from SU to PU . Simply stated SU wasn't built in a day but it sure as hell has been destroyed in one. Why was it destroyed from a beautiful social site that had groups, forums, and HTML Photo Blogging. To a knock of Facebook style page. I will tell you my opinion though it won't matter to anyone, but you did it so you could line your pockets with pictures of Dead Presidents. You asses don't give a damn about us,so it is no wonder so many are leaving for better places. To be honest the only reason I stay around this dung heap is because many of my friends are on here,
The same question is always asked What do you think of the new su? Here is another, What was wrong with the Old SU? Also What would make me happy concerning su? That's easy. I will be happy when the place goes belly up as a failed experiment. So that someone with brains and heart can start it over again. Brains and heart are something sorely lacking from the su monkeys these days

Beatin' a dead horse, as they say...

There is no sense in continuing the diatribes really. Nobody is going to change anything based on what you say here.

The tribe is disbanded. Done. Over and done with, ain't going back.

No amount of tongue-lashing, nor weeping-wailing-and-gnashing-of-teeth will revive it...

To everyone valiantly struggling to bang a bit of sense into the heads of the denizens or Stately Stumble Towers and their flying monkeys at the HUGE design company I say that you're wasting your time.

Even if there was a blinding flash of common sense today and the 'new' Stumbleupon was consigned to the trash can where it belongs the damage is already done. Its been done steadily over the last 2 or 3 years but most significantly last October when they sent in the bailiffs to evict SUs most active 'bloggers' . The decline really is irreversible now.

A couple of years ago I'd log onto SU and find that it met all of my needs for online socializing and content discovery. It was vibrant, buzzing, and interesting. I'd get a couple of hundred visitors to my page each day, follow and be followed by interesting new people each day, and get a consistently high quality of shares from friends.

Contrast that with now. Now Stumbleupon is dead. DEAD. If I get a couple of visitors a week I'm lucky, the rare person that follows me is usually an obvious spammer, with the 'new' SU I would have no clue who to follow myself because every users page is the same as every other, and all of the interesting, active stumblers I knew have left and moved to Tumblr or Categorian or elsewhere.

There is absolutely nothing at Stumbleupon worth staying for. I keep the account open so friends I made previously can still message me here or send shares but as so few now bother with SU thats dwindled to virtually nothing.

The damage is done. Its irreversible. Whatever they do now they've lost the only thing that was ever important about Stumbleupon, the people who used it.

Do you have to do paid ads to get traffic from StumbleUpon now? It's only a short matter of time before people realize the content they are receiving isn't genuine, but rather bought and paid for. You can't reasonably believe that you can maintain high quality content this way.

I think the biggest problem with the new redesign is that it seems to embrace the fact that SU is a traffic driver at the complete neglect of all the things that made it that way in the first place. If it's not a useful social media tool anymore, then the traffic will go bye-bye.

Looks like it already is.

Why do these great social media tools self-destruct soon after they begin to become useful? I don't get it. Why tinker with a good thing? Why alter some of the biggest aspects of the site? Did some new manager or site designer just need to do something to justify his/her existence?

Stumbleupon, you had found a nice niche for yourself. Just let it be!

I used to love Stumbleupon, but ever since the change nothing is working any longer. It is now 2 months and nothing gets fixed. I cannot believe that Stumbleupon is not going back to the old site until everything is fixed. Even looking up pages through Google only results in error pages. And it shows in everything. Stumbleupon was the #1 social traffic source for 5 months in a row and now the numbers are down significantly. This will only get worse if Stumbleupon does not do something fast. But that does not seem to be an option. After all, they switched to the new layout followed by a 10 day vacation for the entire staff!!!!!!
Yes, I am frustrated. Not because there are issues, but because they don't get addressed. Besides, the purpose seemed to be to make things simpler, but the result is that what made Stumbleupon so good has disappeared and what is left is not functioning properly.

Is anybody even reading these comments?

I don't use SU a lot, but usually log in and stumble and see what people are up to a couple of times a month. After the change, I searched in vain for what people I follow were stumbling. It had to be there. It just had to be. They've hidden it somewhere and I'll find it. Then it became apparent that it wasn't there. And I wondered why the hell we can "follow" each other if we can't even see what we're all stumbling.

I followed a majority of the people that I did because I liked what they were stumbling and it gave me access to pieces of the web curated by them - which was a real asset. Now, that's gone. And for now reason, which is the real kicker.

I might still putter around on SU from time to time, but it won't be the same. And I imagine, eventually, post people will just abandon it altogether.

Great job, SU. A slow, public suicide is just what you wanted, wasn't it?

I'm starting to notice apps and widgets come out that do what the Stumble engine does but with superior GUIs. This shows what SU should have done -- make a separate app that taps into the SU discovery engine (and/or maybe even licensing the engine's use to third-party app makers) while keeping the formerly thriving community alive and well to keep the great content coming.

SU would have had the best of both worlds instead of the worst of both it has now.

The SU Website sucks, and the SU discover engine has become worthless. No good content gets added anymore because SU killed the goose that laid the golden eggs by killing the community and all incentive for adding good content. So SU threw away all its advantages and got nothing in return except an open door to competitors who can now easily complete in an area they never stood a chance in before.

Brilliant strategy guys. I hope no one there was counting on stock options to get rich.

I am finding that for about the last month I get "theme days". Where everything I stumble is on the same topic despite my search being set to "All Videos". To top it off as of March 1st it seems I have been 'rolled into' a new homepage and the whole thing has gone to pot. Stumbles usually do not work and now the video Stumbles are at the website of origin (Youtube, Funny or Die etc..) and not in that black bordered video player screen. I have been stumbling along for nearly four years now and this has been by far the worst transition yet.

Three months ago, serinadruid pointed out that the info button showed only 4 views of this page. It's the same today. Despite the hundreds of negative comments, presumably from Stumblers who must have "viewed" the page as well. That illustrates how low SU is prepared to stoop in order to ram through its changes. Obviously it doesn't give a flying fuck about these protests and that tells us that they're labouring under the delusion that they're going to make more money with a passive user base than an active one. History will, I suspect, giggle briefly at their misjudgement.

just in point of fact, it now shows 500+ views, with around 50 thumbs-up:

I feel like my home has been hit by a tornado and our beloved Stumbleupon is gone. This cold desolate place we have left is boring. I sit here and mindlessly stumble and try to find my friends I have met here over the years. I grieve the loss of those who have left permanently. Does anyone who can make a difference really care? I don't think so anymore but I have to keep trying.
I am also finding myself confused at why some of the people I have met face to face on here have suddenly been given involuntary sex changes by SU. I voiced this problem awhile back, men have become women and women are now men. This bug is still there!!!!!!

Although I never used StumbleUpon only to get traffic to my blogs, blog traffic was a natural and pleasant side effect. StumbleUpon used to bring me more traffic than any other site other than Google, but sine the changes it's getting less and less and less... now Twitter and even Facebook are bringing me more traffic than StumbleUpon. I hardly see any reason to submit anything anymore. What a shame. What a waste.

What do I think of the new shitupon I make no apologies to any of the su staff. They don't give a damn about us so I could care less if their house of cards comes crashing down around them. The new PU sucks. It has no heart, but you mindless troglodytes don't care. You are only interested in covering your collective fat asses so you can make your spammer friends happy

Want to know what really pisses me off? There were two dear friends that showed up on the old version, but with this crappy place they are not there, No way in hell is that right. Especially since one of those friends is my first stumble friend Rapture. However I do have Categorian to message those 2 friends. The other is one of the dearest stumble friends I have. Annalepsis is her name.

What really sickens me is that you asses call this tinker toy site an improvement. What in the bloody hell is improved about no pictures,no themes,no groups or forums. It's like someone said last year you want us to all become mindless clickers.

I went to the library to use the library computers and SU has been removed because it's a social site
Social site hell!! A Social disease is more social than this place.
That is really sad what you idiotic half ass retards have done to this place.

The worst part is unlike the old su where one could delete their account if they chose to do so is not seen on this one. What's the deal do you want us to stay indentured servants to your spammers from China and who knows where the hell else they are from. I wouldn't be surprised if the Taliban shows up.

Well I have had my say except this parting shot

I hope that each and everyone of you wind up in a soup kitchen

Have a horrible day and may su crash and burn

LOL. OK, I threw a temper-tantrum, too, but I am trying to figure out how to use the new interface. I brought several friends to this site in the past, and could never explain to them how to connect with other people, how to review, how to use the site as a blog. They either left, quit, or failed to gain any insight on how to use their pages as the majority of commenters in these threads. Whatever SU has done, we are in the minority. It's too bad, because it was a great place. *SIGH*

I have said the last of my negative comments. Although, tbh, SUn, I am disappoint >:-(
