You keep showing me topics under "Beauty" which I do not have selected as a topic. Why?

Repeated "Stumbles" to sites categorized as "Beauty." 1. I did not select "Beauty" as a topic. 2. It's the same two pages over and over again. Please make it stop.

Thanks for the report, Abigail. We'll need your StumbleUpon username, please, in order to look into your report and to respond to you effectively. If you were able to provide the urls - or domain names - of the pages you are seeing that would also be helpful. Thanks!

Okay; can you tell me how to get you this information? Didn't my username come in with my help query (and if not, why not... talk to you programmers!)? If you don't have it, why is my name on this? If you're asking for info you should already have, how do I know you're not phishing?

Please please tell me what to do to make the Beauty topic go away. I don't have domain names, though Glamour at least one domain owner, and I have blocked every site like this that has come up, so I'm not going back to unblock and find them. These sites will probably take the clickthrough as a positive and keep up their assault.

Hi,

These forums are hosted on a 3rd party site, Getsatisfaction.com. Unfortunately that means we don't have any of your StumbleUpon info. If you'd rather you can contact us at support@stumbleupon.com with the info we requested. Thanks!

Okay, well, my first impression is that GetSatisfaction.com really did not give satisfaction and was a source of frustration instead. When I have time, I'll try to figure out what my username is and I'll definitely use the support email above rather than your third-party "provider", but I'm still not enabling those predatory sites to get you the domain info. In the meantime, I just won't bother using StumbleUpon.

If they are all from glamour.com you can easily block the whole site using the thumb down menu on the StumbleBar. Hope this helps.

Only some of them are from there. Only common thing is that "beauty" tag.

There's another one...except this one is "celebrities", another topic I don't have on my interests. So it's not just "beauty" that's broken...it's thing's related to it as well. Either way it's happening far too often to be really usable.

StumbleUpon sends you 'sponsored pages' in your Stumbles, always has. Ideally, those pages would match your selected topics but when we don't have suitable content that 'matches', or if you are Stumbling in a single topic, those 'sponsored pages' may seem 'off-topic'. You can thumb these pages up, or down, same as any other Stumble, but if any content from any particular domain offends you so much that you'd really rather not see any Stumbles from that domain, you can employ the measures we've outlined for you. Hope this helps.

I thought it was supposed to have some indicator for sponsored posts? These have none. Also, these are happening far too often. I just got one for weddings now too. I don't give a rats ass about weddings. This is literally like 30% of my stumbles. That's way too high for "sponsored" content. Unusable.
No, you didn't help at all. I've already thumbed it all down a lot and still get stuff from those topics due to what I believe is some big error on your end.

Just today for example, I've gotten like 5 for parenting even after thumbing that shit down 100 times. Thumbing down seems to do NOTHING. Blocking a domain only helps a little bit when there's hundreds of domains related to that garbage topic.

If this is really sponsored content, it's far, FAR too common. And there needs to be indicators that state as such. I also think it's really stupid to even show us sponsored content of topics we don't like. That doesn't even make sense. Sponsored content is supposed to be advertising, right? Wouldn't it make more sense to show us advertisements we're more likely to actually be interested in? You literally have all the data you need to do that and instead you show only stuff I absolutely hate?

You should be seeing a sponsored indicator (as illustrated below) when you encounter such a page in your Stumbles. If you are not, please provide a screenshot (full browser screen, please) and let us know what browser+vn and OS you are using. Thanks.

Here's the site I linked yesterday that was filed under "celebrities", a topic I do not have selected. Using Firefox, fully up to date, Windows 10 Home.

Thanks for the screenshot. The 'whole browser screen' request is quite important to us, since it provides more information than this partial screenshot does - info which might help us get to the bottom of the issue you are reporting.

It's also important that the screenshot shows us what you see when the page is *Stumbled* - and not revisited via the url. Thanks!

I'll note that the article on this is sponsored and that's completely unrelated to Stumbleupon.

This stumble is listed under "Pregnancy/Birth", topic I do not have marked.
TBH I don't even see how this is related to "Pregnancy/Birth"...

I'm an ugly 50 year old guy.. I didn't select this as one of my interests?? This is spam or a bug on-board and embedded on your wonderful site. can you please get rid of these?
Thank you in advance. J sivna

Your Thumbs provide you with the ability to tune the quality of your own Stumbles, so use them as often as possible - and, in this particular instance, you'll find that the Thumbs-down button includes to <<block this site>> and remove any given domain from the selection process for your Stumbles. We recommend using this feature sparingly and with precision - it not be wholly effective if used to block a very large number of sites.

Hope this helps!

I have the same problem. I try to block the sites, but it doesn't always work. There are 2-3 sites I see all the time, not the same ones as for the people above but one is from glamour.com. Username sofiemg.

Thanks for your report, Sofie. We 'cue up' some Stumbles for you, so any change to your Stumble settings (a 'block', adding or removing topics, etc) may take a short while to become fully effective. Allow for about 25-30 Stumbles for such changes to kick in. If you still are seeing Stumbles that you would expect to be gone after this period, please let us know the details (your username, an example url, and when you made the change) and we'll take a closer look for you.
